A fake iPhone Duo preorder page reportedly promised a $500 voucher and AppleCare+ while attempting to exploit vulnerable iPhones as soon as visitors opened it. You did not need to submit the form or tap a download. Malwarebytes analyzed captured code but did not test it on an iPhone or observe data leaving a device, so the reported ability to access information should not be mistaken for confirmed theft from victims. Verify preorder details by going directly to Apple or a retailer you already trust.
What the fake iPhone Duo offer claimed
Malwarebytes reported on September 29, 2026, that a captured page imitated Apple and advertised a “$500 Authorized Partner Exclusive” voucher plus AppleCare+. It requested a name, email address and phone number, marking WhatsApp as the preferred contact method. The page claimed there was no upfront payment.
Several details did not fit a legitimate Apple offer:
- A countdown restarted when the page was reloaded.
- Links labeled for privacy, terms and sales led nowhere.
- The displayed model sizes and colors did not match Apple’s announced iPhone Duo details.
- The purported offer came from a page that visitors could not verify through Apple’s official announcement.
In the version Malwarebytes captured, submitting the form did not read or send the contact details. Instead, it produced a fabricated “Pre-Order Successful” message. That does not make the page safe: the exploit attempt reportedly began in the background when the page was opened.

What happened when someone opened the page
Malwarebytes said the page attempted to reopen itself in Safari on iPhones, then used an invisible frame to check the iOS version and select code. Its captured payload attempted to send device details, app lists, Apple Notes, saved credentials, cryptocurrency wallet data, photo thumbnails and other files.
Those are reported capabilities of analyzed code, not evidence that this particular page successfully stole those items from visitors. Malwarebytes said it did not test the code on an iPhone and did not observe data leaving a device. It also did not confirm the exact iOS version range targeted by this preorder page.

Google’s March 2026 report on the related DarkSword chain described campaigns affecting iOS 18.4 through 18.7 and said the vulnerabilities it reported had been patched with iOS 26.3, most of them earlier. That historical range does not establish which versions the fake preorder page targeted.

Apple announced two colors, star white and night sky, and a U.S. starting price of $1,999. It also announced an iPhone Duo Case for $79 and an iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand for $129, with the accessories available to order beginning October 16. Prices and regional availability vary; confirm them on Apple’s storefront. No separate competing legitimate voucher offer is established by these reports.
- Do not follow preorder links in unfamiliar ads, messages or social posts. Open Apple’s website or app yourself, or visit a retailer you already know and trust.
- Compare the offer with Apple’s announced preorder date, colors, model details and price. Treat mismatches as a warning sign.
- Check that any retailer link resolves to that retailer’s known official domain and that its policy and terms pages work. A countdown or “exclusive” label is not proof of legitimacy.
- If the offer cannot be confirmed through Apple or a known retailer, do not enter contact, payment or account information.
What to do if you opened the page
Do not reopen it, even to check whether it still loads. Malwarebytes’ incident-response guidance is to update iOS and restart the iPhone. Apple says devices with updated software were protected from the reported web attacks and advises installing the latest available updates. Apple also says Lockdown Mode protects against these specific attacks on devices that cannot yet be updated; it still recommends updating as soon as possible.

A restart is a precaution, not proof that nothing was exposed, and it cannot undo information that may already have left a device. If you entered information or have reason to think the device may have been compromised, take account-protection steps from a different, trusted device:
- Change important passwords, starting with your email, Apple Account, banking and cryptocurrency accounts, and enable two-factor authentication where available.
- If cryptocurrency wallet exposure is plausible, Malwarebytes advises moving funds to a new wallet with a new recovery phrase created on a trusted device. This is precautionary guidance, not proof that any particular wallet was accessed.
- Keep a screenshot or record of the suspicious URL without reopening it, and report the page to your national cybercrime reporting service.
Malwarebytes says its web protection blocks the specific analyzed page, but Apple’s primary protection advice is to keep iOS updated. The reports do not establish how many people encountered the page, whether anyone’s device was successfully compromised, or whether losses occurred.
