Kyndryl’s approach combines executable policy controls for agentic AI workflows with lifecycle oversight for agents, from discovery and testing through monitoring, audit, and risk response. A separate service-management offer adds assessments and implementation blueprints. Together, the announcements describe a governance framework for enterprise deployments—not a promise that agents can operate without human oversight.

What Kyndryl’s agentic AI governance service does

Kyndryl’s February 11, 2026 announcement describes a policy-as-code capability for agentic AI workflows. It translates an organization’s rules, regulatory requirements, and operational controls into machine-readable policies that govern how workflows execute. The aim is to make those controls consistently enforceable and their outcomes auditable.

This changes the role of a policy from guidance people must interpret into a rule that can be applied within a workflow. That can help organizations express what an agent may do, or under what conditions a workflow may proceed. The announcement does not specify the policy language, technical architecture, supported agent platforms, or how exceptions and approvals are configured.

How the governance pieces fit together

Policy as code governs workflow execution

The policy-as-code capability is the execution-control layer: it turns business, regulatory, and operational requirements into machine-readable rules for agentic workflows. Kyndryl says this is intended to support consistent, auditable, and trustworthy outcomes, particularly in complex and highly regulated environments.

Digital Trust covers the agent lifecycle

Kyndryl’s November 19, 2025 Agentic AI Digital Trust announcement describes broader controls across an agent’s lifecycle:

  • Discovering and registering agents.
  • Testing and certifying agents.
  • Monitoring and enforcing policies continuously.
  • Auditing activity and producing compliance reports.
  • Managed AI detection and response (AI-MDR).
  • Proactive risk management.

Kyndryl positions Digital Trust for deployments across hybrid and multicloud environments. The announcement does not identify specific cloud providers, agent frameworks, or integrations, so organizations should confirm compatibility and deployment details directly with Kyndryl.

Agentic Service Management connects governance to operations

Announced April 2, 2026, Agentic Service Management adds a maturity model, structured assessments, and implementation blueprints. Its assessment prioritizes gaps across service management, AI governance, security, and operations. This is intended to connect agent oversight with the processes that run enterprise services, rather than treating governance as a separate policy exercise.

What this could mean for a regulated enterprise

The announced elements map to different control questions: whether an agent is known and registered, whether it has been tested, which rules apply when it acts, whether those rules are monitored, and how activity and compliance can be reviewed. AI-MDR and proactive risk management add response and risk functions to that picture.

These are important aims, but the announcements do not describe a specific approval workflow, explainability method, logging schema, retention period, or division of responsibility between Kyndryl and a customer. Nor do they establish that every action is reviewed by a person. Enterprises should treat those as design and contracting questions, not assume the service resolves them by default.

What the announcements establish—and what they do not

The announcements establish Kyndryl’s intended capabilities and target environment. They do not publish independent results for accuracy, cost savings, incident reduction, or implementation speed. Questions to resolve before adopting an enterprise agent-governance service

The announcements are a starting point for evaluation, not a deployment specification. An enterprise should ask for concrete answers in the areas that determine whether controls will work in its environment:

  • Policy representation: How are policies authored, versioned, tested, approved, and translated into enforceable controls? Can the organization inspect and maintain them?
  • Lifecycle coverage: Which agent sources and types can be discovered and registered? What are the testing and certification criteria, and how are policy changes handled after deployment?
  • Enforcement and exceptions: What happens when a workflow violates a rule, encounters an ambiguous instruction, or needs an exception? Which actions require human approval?
  • Audit and explainability: What actions, inputs, policy decisions, and approvals are logged? How are records made available for investigations and compliance reporting, and how long are they retained?
  • Hybrid and multicloud scope: Which environments, platforms, and existing security or service-management tools are supported? Confirm integrations rather than inferring them from the deployment-scope description.
  • Operations and response: What does AI-MDR include, who investigates alerts, and who is responsible for containment and recovery?
  • Assessment and implementation: What deliverables come from the maturity assessment and blueprints, and how are priorities translated into funded work and measurable acceptance criteria?
  • Commercial and accountability terms: What is included in the service, how is it priced, and how are responsibilities divided among the customer, Kyndryl, and other technology providers?

How to interpret Kyndryl’s approach

Kyndryl is presenting a layered enterprise-governance approach: policy as code is meant to constrain workflow execution; Digital Trust addresses agent discovery, testing, monitoring, audit, and response; and Agentic Service Management helps assess readiness and connect controls to operating practices. The fit will depend on whether the actual integrations, enforcement behavior, human-approval model, audit evidence, and service responsibilities meet an organization’s requirements. The announcements define the intended scope, but do not by themselves demonstrate effectiveness in a particular deployment.
