Yes—but not in regular ChatGPT conversations. OpenAI says GPT-6.1 Sol is rolling out to eligible paid plans in ChatGPT Work and Codex. Whether it appears for you depends on your plan, workspace settings, and rollout access. Developers can also use it separately through the API as gpt-6.1-sol.

OpenAI describes Sol as offering “Near-Astra performance for complex work at a lower cost.” That is the company’s product positioning, not an independent comparative benchmark.

Why don’t you see GPT-6.1 Sol?
First, check which product you are using: Sol is not selectable in a regular ChatGPT conversation. In ChatGPT Work or Codex, access is rolling out to eligible paid plans, so it may not be available to every account yet. Plan eligibility and workspace configuration can also determine what appears.
For Enterprise and Edu workspaces
OpenAI’s model availability guidance says Enterprise and Edu workspace owners must enable model access. Workspace settings and assigned roles can affect member access. If you use one of these accounts, ask your administrator to check whether the model is enabled for your workspace and role. See OpenAI’s model availability guidance.

How to check access
- Open ChatGPT Work or Codex rather than a regular ChatGPT conversation.
- Check whether your plan is eligible and whether the rollout has reached your account.
- If you are in an Enterprise or Edu workspace, ask its administrator to confirm that GPT-6.1 Sol is enabled and that your role has access.
If you need programmatic access, use the API route and model ID gpt-6.1-sol; it does not make Sol available in regular ChatGPT conversations.
What does GPT-6.1 Sol cost through the API?
OpenAI’s September 29, 2026 API changelog lists standard-use rates for prompts up to 272K input tokens. These are token charges, not a ChatGPT subscription price.

OpenAI lists text and image input, text output, a 1,050,000-token context window, a maximum output of 128,000 tokens, and reasoning effort options of low, medium, high, xhigh, and max on the GPT-6.1 Sol model page. These are API specifications; they do not change where the model is available in ChatGPT.
