Reddit plans to stop serving RSS feeds on November 13, 2026. If you use a reader to follow subreddits you do not moderate, those feeds will stop receiving new posts when Reddit withdraws RSS; Reddit says there is no replacement for that use. Its suggested alternative, Discord Relay, is aimed at common moderation alerts—not ordinary subreddit subscriptions.
What changes on November 13
Reddit announced the cutoff in an infrastructure update published in r/modnews on September 30, 2026. The company says it will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, 2026. The post gives no exact shutdown time and does not promise a transition or grace period.

This is a change at Reddit’s end, not a decision by a particular RSS reader. Inoreader says its existing Reddit feeds can continue updating for as long as Reddit serves them; after that, it will no longer be able to retrieve new Reddit posts through those feeds. Switching to a different reader cannot restore a source feed Reddit no longer provides.
Who loses access—and what Discord Relay does
| Use case | Reddit’s stated path | What is not preserved |
|---|---|---|
| Moderator alerts in a community you moderate | Review your current setup and migrate workflows before November 13. Reddit recommends Devvit apps such as Discord Relay for common moderator alerts. | Reddit does not describe Discord Relay as a universal RSS reader or say it supports every custom workflow. |
| Following communities in a reader when you do not moderate them | Reddit says there is no replacement. | The announcement identifies no official alternative for ordinary RSS subscriptions to those communities. |
Reddit states: “If you use RSS for feeds outside of a community you moderate, there is no replacement.” Discord Relay is therefore not a like-for-like substitute for someone who simply wants new posts from a few subreddits in a reader. The recommendation concerns moderator alerts, and Reddit limits its description to common alerts.

Why Reddit says it is ending RSS
Reddit’s stated reason is that RSS has become “a common surface for large-scale scraping and automated abuse.” That is Reddit’s explanation; the announcement does not quantify the scraping or abuse, and the sources cited here do not independently establish its scale.
Reddit’s post does not provide a usage figure for how many people rely on RSS, nor a measured volume of scraping tied to these feeds. There is no need to infer either number to understand the practical effect: Reddit is retiring the feed source for all users, including people using RSS for personal reading.

Do not confuse the RSS cutoff with the API timeline
The planned RSS end date is November 13, 2026. TechCrunch’s September 30, 2026 report separately says public API access is scheduled to end by March 2027. These are distinct changes with different dates; March 2027 is not an extension of Reddit RSS access.

- If you follow subreddits in a reader: Expect existing Reddit feeds to stop updating when Reddit withdraws RSS. No official replacement for this use is identified.
- If you moderate a community: Identify any moderation workflows that depend on RSS and review Reddit’s Devvit alternatives, including Discord Relay for common alerts, before November 13.
- If you use a third-party reader: Check its service notice for how it will handle existing Reddit subscriptions. A reader can retrieve feeds only while Reddit serves them.
Reddit’s infrastructure update is the policy source; Inoreader’s October 1, 2026 notice explains the effect on its own feeds and confirms that the limitation is source-side rather than specific to Inoreader.
