Samsung’s first clip-on Galaxy Buds are called Galaxy Buds On. Announced in South Korea on October 1, 2026, they sit around the ear instead of sealing inside the ear canal, so the design is intended to let you listen while remaining more aware of nearby sounds. Samsung lists October 27, 2026 as the South Korean release date; availability elsewhere has not been dated.
How Galaxy Buds On are meant to work
Unlike conventional in-ear earbuds, Galaxy Buds On clip around the ear and leave the ear canal open. Samsung says it analyzed different ear shapes and used simulations to optimize the placement of the speaker and battery. Those are manufacturer design statements, not independent findings about comfort or fit.
The open-ear format is intended for situations such as walking or running outdoors, when a listener may want to hear both audio and sounds nearby. It does not guarantee that you will hear every warning or that outdoor activity is safe: music can still distract, and ambient noise may mask sounds.
Reported features and what remains untested
Android Central’s October 1, 2026 launch coverage reports the following specifications and functions. They should be treated as reported launch details rather than independently verified test results.

- Galaxy AI features: hands-free Gemini Live, Quick Voice Memos searchable in Bixby, and head gestures for calls, alarms, or notifications.
Open earbuds have tradeoffs: bass reproduction and sound leakage can be challenging because the speaker does not seal the ear canal. The reported features are Samsung’s attempts to address these concerns, but the available coverage does not establish how well they work in real listening conditions. No independent listening, fit, or leakage tests were available.
South Korean launch, reported price, and international availability
Samsung’s Korean announcement names October 27, 2026 as the release date in South Korea. Android Central reports a South Korean price of KRW 299,000. The report says a broader rollout is planned, but gives no dates or prices for other markets. There is no confirmed US or worldwide launch date in the available announcements, and a live Amazon listing has not been verified.

How to judge whether the open-ear design suits you
Galaxy Buds On may be worth watching if you want earbuds that do not seal your ear canal. The design trades some separation from the environment for access to ambient sound; it should not be treated as a substitute for paying attention, particularly near traffic.
Before buying, look for a local Samsung product page with confirmed specifications, compatibility details, price, and availability. For a meaningful comparison with in-ear Galaxy Buds or other clip-on earbuds, focus on how the fit works for your ears, whether bass and leakage are acceptable, battery life under stated test conditions, and which reported AI or gesture features your devices support.
