The black earbuds are scheduled to go on sale in South Korea on October 27, 2026, for 299,000 won; Samsung has not yet specified launch dates or prices for other markets.
What are Samsung Galaxy Buds On?
Galaxy Buds On are clip-on wireless earbuds that sit around the ear without blocking the ear canal. Samsung positions the open design for everyday listening and activities such as walking or exercising outdoors, when a wearer may want to remain aware of nearby sounds. That is the product’s intended use, not a guarantee that listening is safe in every environment.
Samsung says it studied different ear shapes and used simulations to optimize the placement of the speakers and batteries. It also says a larger contact area helps distribute pressure and an elastic band is designed to keep the earbuds stable during movement. These are Samsung’s design claims; there is no independent fit or comfort assessment established here.
Audio, battery life and calls
Open-ear audio and sound leakage
Samsung lists TwinBoost speakers intended to support bass, automatic volume adjustment based on external conditions, and Audio Leakage Reduction to limit sound escaping into the surroundings. These features are intended to address common open-ear trade-offs, but they do not mean the earbuds eliminate leakage or perform like sealed in-ear headphones. The announcement does not provide independent listening comparisons.

Battery claim
Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on a charge. The announcement does not specify the test conditions behind that figure, so actual runtime may differ with usage and settings.
Call hardware and processing
The announced hardware includes a Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform and Class-D amplifier. For calls, Samsung describes three microphones and a bone-conduction-based Voice Pickup Unit Sensor that detects vibration when the wearer speaks. Machine-learning processing is intended to separate the wearer’s voice and reduce background noise; real-world call quality has not been independently established.

Gemini Live, voice memos and hands-free controls
Starting Gemini Live
When paired with a compatible Galaxy AI-supporting smartphone or tablet, Galaxy Buds On can start Gemini Live with the spoken prompt “Hey Google, let’s talk Live,” according to Samsung. Compatibility and feature availability can depend on the connected device and region.
Quick Voice Memo and Bixby search
Samsung also describes Quick Voice Memo: press and hold the touch area on the back of the earbuds while speaking, then search the recording with Bixby. Samsung’s footnote requires a Galaxy AI-supporting device and the Samsung Voice Recorder and Bixby apps. The press-and-hold behavior must also be configured separately.

Head gestures and settings
Samsung says head gestures can answer or end calls, dismiss alarms, and read message notifications. It also says opening the charging case can initiate pairing, and that volume and equalizer settings can be changed through phone settings and Quick Panel without installing Galaxy Wearable. Check the connected device’s compatibility and local feature availability rather than assuming every function works on every phone.
Release date, price and availability
Samsung’s October 1, 2026 announcement sets the initial sale for South Korea on October 27, 2026. The launch configuration announced is black, priced at 299,000 won. Because that sale date is still in the future as of October 3, 2026, it is a planned launch, not a completed release. Samsung says other global markets will follow sequentially but has not announced their dates or prices. Samsung’s Korean announcement has the product details; Android Central’s report also notes that wider rollout details were not specified.

- JBL OpenSound technology: Enjoy clear, dynamic music while leaving your ear canal open, so you've always got a sense of what's going on around you. The precise fit of your JBL Sense Lite earbuds eliminates sound leakage, so your conversations will always remain private and confidential.
- Enhanced dynamic sound: Lightweight, efficient, and highly sensitive 18x11mm dynamic drivers deliver a smooth, balanced sound. Meanwhile, the adaptive bass boost algorithm automatically adjusts the bass based on the music's volume, for an enhanced, dynamic sound with depth and richness.
- Designed for all-day comfort: Ears are as unique as fingerprints. So JBL Sense Lite earbuds are designed to provide a perfect listening angle and deliver low sound leakage to the widest variety of ear shapes and sizes. JBL Sense Lite earbuds are made of durable and ultra-soft liquid silicone combined with memory wire. And the balanced design distributes the weight evenly, so they'll be comfortable all day long.
- 4 mics for crisp, clear calls: Two beamforming mics per earbud effectively capture your voice while suppressing noise from other sources. Meanwhile, the beamforming algorithm minimizes unwanted ambient noise, making the voice effect more intelligible and authentic. The hydrodynamic windproof design significantly reduces distortion from air friction and gives you a clear call experience-even outdoors.
- Up to 32 total hours of playtime: With up to 8 hours of playtime in the earbuds and another 24 in the case, even a hardcore listener can go almost a week between charges. And if you ever need a quick boost, 10 minutes on the charger will give you another three hours.
What to check before choosing them
Galaxy Buds On’s announcement describes a new form factor, but does not establish how it compares with other earbuds in testing. Before buying, consider whether the clip-on fit works for your ears and routine, how much environmental awareness you want, and whether bass, sound leakage, movement stability, battery life, and call quality meet your needs. Also check that your device supports the Gemini and memo features you intend to use, and wait for confirmed local availability and pricing.
