AWS says ZNotes had reached more than six million learners in more than 190 countries when AWS published its case study on February 28, 2025. The case study spotlights a December 2024 chatbot built with Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases; it also reports early launch-period usage, not current adoption. ZNotes’ later impact report gives a separate platform-wide figure: 6.4 million students and teachers reached across 190 countries from January 2024 through June 2025.
What is ZNotes?
ZNotes is a free online exam-preparation platform offering syllabus-specific notes, videos, quizzes, and opportunities for peer learning. AWS describes its main audience as learners aged 14–18, with resources co-created with high-performing students. The organization’s story says founder Zubair Junjunia started ZNotes as a school project in 2014, aged 16, to make high-quality exam notes accessible. It has since grown into a global, youth-led learning movement.
How does the Amazon Bedrock chatbot help students?
The chatbot offers on-demand study help drawing on curated, syllabus-aligned content. AWS says it was built with Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases. ZNotes founder and CEO Zubair Junjunia described it as “an AI-powered chatbot trained on pre-validated content that personalizes learning for students, no matter where they are in the world,” with AWS and Bedrock support.
The published case study does not identify the model used, explain detailed system architecture, or provide an independent accuracy evaluation. It therefore supports a description of the chatbot’s purpose and named AWS services, but not claims about its comparative performance, privacy controls, or operating costs.
What usage did AWS report, and what was only projected?
AWS’s February 2025 case study separates the chatbot’s initial use from its growth target:

AWS also said it selected ZNotes for its Education Equity Initiative, which it described as committing up to $100 million in cloud credits and technical expertise to organizations developing digital learning solutions for underserved communities. That is the initiative’s overall commitment, not an amount AWS said it awarded to ZNotes.

How many people does ZNotes reach?
The figures differ by source, date, and definition. AWS’s February 2025 case study said ZNotes had reached more than six million learners in more than 190 countries. ZNotes’ 2024–25 impact report covers January 2024 through June 2025 and reports that the platform reached 6.4 million students and teachers across 190 countries. For that same reporting period, ZNotes reports 1.5 million new learners, 85% of them from emerging economies.
These are platform-wide reach figures, not counts of chatbot users. The impact report’s later reporting period also means its total should not be treated as a chatbot adoption update.

What does the impact report say about exam results?
ZNotes reports that 87% of its learners met or exceeded their target exam grades during the January 2024–June 2025 reporting period. This is an organization-reported outcome. The available case study and impact report do not establish that ZNotes alone caused those grades, or independently verify a causal effect.
