In a Qualcomm-commissioned comparison reported by Windows Central on October 2, 2026, a Lenovo Slim 7x with the 18-core Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-88-100 beat a Dell XPS 14 with Intel Core Ultra X7 358H in the reported Geekbench 7 CPU and AI results, as well as two battery-runtime tests. Intel won the sustained Office battery test. These are results for three specific laptops—not a controlled, chip-only verdict on Snapdragon versus Intel.

Which laptops were compared?

Windows Central reported Signal65 test results for three 14-inch laptops: a Lenovo Slim 7x with Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-88-100 (18 cores), a Dell XPS 14 with Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, and a Lenovo Yoga 7a 14 with AMD Ryzen AI 7 445. The headline results below focus on the Snapdragon and Intel systems; the reported figures do not establish a general ranking of all three platforms. Signal65’s study was commissioned by Qualcomm, so it should not be treated as an independent replication. Windows Central’s account of the Signal65 comparison.

How did the Snapdragon laptop compare on CPU and AI?

Geekbench 7 CPU

Test Lenovo Slim 7x, Snapdragon X2 Elite Dell XPS 14, Intel Core Ultra X7 358H
Multi-core 24,016 18,360
Single-core 3,237 2,602

Windows Central says Signal65 characterized those results as a 31% Snapdragon lead in multi-core and a 24% lead in single-core. They are scores from the tested laptop configurations, not processor-only measurements.

Named AI benchmarks

In UL Procyon AI Computer Vision, the Snapdragon system scored 4,360 and the Intel system 2,302. In AI CV 2.0 WinML, Windows Central reports that Qualcomm retained an approximately 31% lead. These results apply to the named benchmark workloads and software path; they do not show that every AI application will run faster on Snapdragon.

What happened in productivity and unplugged use?

In UL Procyon Office applications, the Snapdragon system led Intel by 10% in Best Performance mode and had a smaller lead in Balanced mode. Across six benchmarks, its performance on battery retained 97% of its plugged-in Balanced-mode performance; Intel retained 95%, while the AMD system retained 74%.

Signal65’s report, as quoted by Windows Central, says: “The most consistent finding in the data is that the Snapdragon system does not need to be set to a higher power profile to reach its top-tier performance, while the x86 systems do.” That is the report’s interpretation of its results, not a claim that every Snapdragon laptop or workload will behave the same way.

Which laptop lasted longer on battery?

Reported test Snapdragon Lenovo Slim 7x Intel Dell XPS 14 Result
Local video playback 16.1 hours 14.4 hours Snapdragon ran longer
Chrome browsing 11.2 hours 8.6 hours Snapdragon ran longer
Sustained Procyon Office battery test 14.3 hours 17.4 hours Intel ran longer

These are runtimes in the reported tests, not expected battery life for every owner. In the Office test, Signal65’s interpretation was that the Snapdragon system completed more work; Intel nevertheless had the longer runtime.

A separate PCWorld test illustrates how much results depend on the device and protocol. Streaming Netflix at fixed brightness, PCWorld reported 13 hours 4 minutes for an Asus Zenbook A16 with Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme, versus about 16.5 hours for an Intel-powered Asus Zenbook Duo. The chip tier, laptops, and test differ from Signal65’s comparison, so this is context rather than a direct replication or rebuttal. PCWorld’s streaming test.

Does the Snapdragon system cost less?

The tested Lenovo Slim 7x was reported at $1,999, compared with $2,749 for the tested Dell XPS 14—a $750 system-price difference. That is not a comparison of processor prices, nor proof that every Snapdragon laptop costs less. Compare the complete configurations, including display, design, battery capacity, and other specifications, before treating the prices as alternatives. Regional availability and current listings may differ.

What the X2 Elite name and specifications do—and do not—tell you

Snapdragon X2 Elite is a family of configurations, not one identical chip in every laptop. Qualcomm’s product brief lists configurations with up to 18 CPU cores and frequencies up to 5.0 GHz; its table lists up to 85 TOPS. Qualcomm cautions that features vary by OEM design and that battery life varies with device, settings, usage, and other factors. Those specifications describe platform capabilities, not guaranteed performance in a particular laptop. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite product brief.

Qualcomm announced Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Elite Extreme on September 24, 2025, and forecast devices for the first half of 2026. Its announcement advertised up to 80 TOPS of NPU performance for the announced products, up to 75% faster CPU performance than competition at ISO power for X2 Elite Extreme, and up to 31% faster performance at ISO power with up to 43% lower power versus the previous generation for X2 Elite. These are Qualcomm’s claims, not findings from the Signal65 laptop comparison. Qualcomm’s September 2025 announcement.

Do not conflate X2 Elite with X2 Plus. In a September 2026 ecosystem update, Qualcomm announced Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch systems with Snapdragon X2 Plus, a different tier. Qualcomm’s stated local-AI, battery-life, and GPU-improvement figures for those devices compare them with the previous generation and are vendor claims; they are not results for the X2 Elite X2E-88-100 tested here. How to read the headline

  • CPU and the reported AI tests: The tested Snapdragon laptop led the tested Intel laptop in the named results.
  • Battery: Snapdragon lasted longer in local video playback and Chrome browsing, while Intel lasted longer in the sustained Office test.
  • Price: The Lenovo system’s reported price was lower, but the comparison does not isolate CPU cost.
  • Scope: Laptop design, configuration, workload, and test method matter; these results do not establish that every X2 Elite laptop beats every Intel laptop.
