What are Samsung Galaxy Buds On?
Galaxy Buds On are wireless earbuds with a clip-style design—the first clip-type model in Samsung’s Galaxy Buds line, according to Samsung’s October 1, 2026 announcement. They sit on the ear and leave the ear canal open, unlike in-ear earbuds that fit inside and seal the canal. That design is aimed at people who want to listen while remaining more aware of traffic, people, and other surroundings, including when walking or running.
Open-ear listening does not mean that sound can never escape or that every outside sound will be easy to hear. Samsung says sound leakage varies with volume, ear shape, ambient noise, and fit.
When do Galaxy Buds On launch, and how much do they cost?
The first release is in South Korea on October 27, 2026. Samsung announced a single black configuration at KRW 299,000. It says the earbuds will reach global markets in phases, but has not provided country-specific release dates or prices. A price in another currency, or availability outside Korea, cannot yet be confirmed from Samsung’s announcement.

How is the clip-on design intended to fit?
Samsung says it analyzed data from different ear shapes and used simulations to optimize the placement of the speakers and battery. A wider contact area is intended to distribute pressure, and an elastic clip band is designed to help keep the earbuds secure during movement. Samsung presents the open-ear format as suitable for extended wear while preserving awareness of surroundings.
Those points describe the manufacturer’s design goals, not independently verified comfort results. The launch announcement does not establish how the fit will feel across different ears or how securely the earbuds will stay in place for every user during exercise.

What audio and call features do they have?
Music and sound leakage
Samsung lists TwinBoost speakers for reinforcing bass, automatic volume adjustment, and Audio Leakage Reduction to limit sound escaping into nearby spaces. The earbuds use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform with a Class-D amplifier. These are announced specifications and features; Samsung’s launch information does not provide independent listening measurements.
Calls
For calls, Samsung specifies three microphones, a bone-conduction-based Voice Pickup Unit sensor, and Intelligent Clear Call. Machine-learning processing is intended to separate speech from background noise. The announcement does not provide independent call-quality results for wind or other noisy conditions.

How long does the battery last?
Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge. That is the company’s stated maximum; the launch announcement does not give a usage test method or establish that every listener will reach it.
Can Galaxy Buds On use Gemini Live?
Yes, when paired with a compatible Galaxy AI smartphone or tablet. Samsung says users can launch Gemini Live by voice. The earbuds can also record Quick Voice Memos when the rear touch area is held, and users can search recordings with Bixby. Some functions require compatible Galaxy AI devices as well as the relevant Samsung apps and settings.

What controls do Galaxy Buds On offer?
Head Gestures let users nod or shake their head to answer or end calls, dismiss alarms, or check notifications. Samsung also describes the rear touch area as the control for starting a Quick Voice Memo by pressing and holding it. Availability of the listed AI-related functions depends on compatible devices and software.

Why Samsung is entering the clip-on category
Android Central reports figures from Omdia for the year to the second quarter of 2026: open-ear earbud sales grew 12%, while the overall wireless-earbud market declined 2%; clip-on designs accounted for 61% of open-ear sales. These are Omdia figures as reported by Android Central, rather than figures independently detailed in Samsung’s announcement.
