What “paper feel” means
These protectors add texture to the glass surface. The extra friction is intended to make a stylus feel less slippery during handwriting or drawing. How paper-like that feels is subjective and varies by product and user; it is not a guarantee of a particular writing or drawing result.
Check your exact iPad before comparing products
Compatibility is model-specific. Identify your iPad’s generation and display size in its device information or settings, then compare those details with the product’s compatibility list. A listing that says only “for iPad” is not enough to establish fit.

Paperlike 3
Paperlike 3 is sold as a two-pack. Paperlike says it works with all Apple Pencil models and describes its surface as using Nanodots texture. The company also says the protector is under 0.095 mm thick and uses a Butterfly installation system. These are manufacturer statements about Paperlike 3, not independent measurements or evidence about other brands.

Paperlike’s September 2025 launch article says the product became available on its site and Amazon on September 23, 2025. When accessed on October 3, 2026, its US product page showed $49.99 for the two-pack; that price may change.
ESR Paper-Feel
ESR’s name covers products with different constructions and fits, so choose by the exact iPad model and whether the listing is for magnetic, film, or tempered glass. ESR describes its magnetic option as removable and compatible with tempered glass, and says its paper-feel glass offers impact defense. Those are vendor claims; they do not amount to independent head-to-head findings.

Choose according to how you use your iPad
- For frequent handwriting or drawing: prioritize a surface texture you expect to like and confirm that the protector fits your exact iPad. Product descriptions alone cannot tell you how its friction will feel to you.
- If you want to remove texture sometimes: consider a magnetic overlay. Check the maker’s instructions and any stated compatibility with the screen protector underneath.
- If impact defense matters: compare the construction and protection claims of the exact product. A paper-feel finish alone does not establish impact protection, and the claims available here have not been independently compared.
- If you are sensitive to display changes: consider whether you are willing to keep a textured layer on the screen or would prefer a removable option. The available evidence does not provide controlled comparisons of clarity or responsiveness.
- Before installing: read the product’s installation instructions and confirm the model match. Paperlike describes a Butterfly installation system for Paperlike 3; other products may use different methods.

What is—and is not—established about performance
The product information available here is chiefly from manufacturers. It does not establish a universally best paper-feel protector or provide controlled independent comparisons of screen clarity, impact protection, responsiveness, or Apple Pencil tip wear.
