Kelly Clarkson said she enjoys exploring AI, but objects to AI-generated artists competing against human musicians on the same music charts. Her comments drew reported online criticism, though the coverage available does not establish how widespread that response was.

What did Kelly Clarkson say about AI?

Clarkson made the comments on “Coach Kelly,” an episode of Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang’s Las Culturistas podcast published September 30, 2026, according to the Apple Podcasts listing.

In an October 1 report, HuffPost quoted Clarkson saying, “I love AI. There are very amazing things with AI that I am obsessed with.” She said she has fun with the technology and is interested in it artistically. She also suggested AI could help people take part creatively when they cannot do certain things themselves.

Did she support AI music?

Her enthusiasm for some creative uses of AI was not an endorsement of AI-generated artists competing directly with human musicians. Clarkson said, “When you see AI artists competing on a chart with humans, I have an issue,” and added, “I think there should be a separate chart.” Her stated concern was about how AI artists and human artists are compared on music charts, not a blanket rejection of AI.

Why did some people criticize her comments?

HuffPost reported negative social-media responses, including users who called Clarkson’s position out of touch or suggested her view reflected concern about AI’s effects on established artists. A discussion thread in the Las Culturistas subreddit also included sharp criticism, including concern from a graphic designer.

The thread was not uniformly critical: some users argued that Clarkson’s remarks were more nuanced, or understood her to mean AI could help people communicate creative ideas to human designers. These reactions reflect different readings of her comments; they do not establish what listeners overall thought.

How much backlash did she receive?

The available coverage describes negative online responses but does not provide a count of posts, a platform-wide sentiment analysis, or polling about this episode. The quoted posts and subreddit discussion are examples, not a representative measure of public opinion. As a result, “tons of online hate” is not a verified or quantified description of the response.
