To uninstall the Oculus PC app, use Windows’ Start menu, Settings, or Control Panel. These are the standard Windows removal routes, but they do not guarantee that every leftover file, service, driver, or registry entry is removed. Microsoft’s instructions cover Windows 10 and Windows 11; the steps below apply to the PC software, not apps installed on a Quest headset.
Uninstall the Oculus app from Windows
Try the following routes in order. The Start menu and Settings are the direct options; Control Panel is a useful alternative when the program is not available to uninstall through Settings. Microsoft notes that different programs can require different removal locations: Microsoft’s Windows uninstall instructions.
Option 1: Use the Start menu
- Open Start and select All apps.
- Find the Oculus app, then right-click it (or press and hold it on a touch device).
- Select Uninstall and follow any prompts.
Option 2: Use Windows Settings
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the Oculus app and select More (the three-dot menu).
- Select Uninstall and follow the prompts.
Option 3: Use Control Panel
If the app is missing from Settings or Settings does not offer an uninstall option, try Control Panel:
- Search Windows for Control Panel and open it.
- Select Programs > Programs and Features.
- Select the Oculus program, choose Uninstall or Uninstall/Change, and follow the instructions.
What “removing all traces” can—and cannot—mean
Completing an uninstall through Windows removes the installed program using its available uninstall process. It is not a verified guarantee that every related file, service, driver, or registry entry has been erased. The official Windows instructions describe uninstall routes, and the Meta documentation cited here does not provide a complete, current PC cleanup checklist for every possible remnant. Avoid deleting system files, drivers, or registry entries based on guesswork.

If you need assurance about a particular leftover component, identify it first and use guidance specific to that component from a reliable source. The sources linked here do not establish that a particular manual cleanup step is safe or necessary.
If Windows reports an uninstall error
Microsoft points users experiencing program installation or removal errors to its Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter. Use that official troubleshooting route rather than removing files or registry entries blindly.

Do not confuse PC uninstalling with Oculus library removal
Removing a third-party app from an Oculus app or Home list is a separate library action, not a full uninstall of the Windows PC software. Meta describes that library-list action in its developer documentation. If your goal is to remove the PC installation, use one of the Windows uninstall routes above.
If you meant an app on a Quest headset
Quest apps are a separate case from the Oculus PC app. Meta says uninstalling a Quest app removes its local data but does not delete its Cloud Backups. Backups are managed separately through Meta’s Cloud Backups page or the headset’s Cloud Backup settings; deleting a backup is permanent.

Optional: Collect logs before troubleshooting a broken installation
Meta documents OculusLogGatherer.exe as a troubleshooting utility included with the app installation. It is located in the installation folder under Support > oculus-diagnostics, and running it requires local administrative privileges. It gathers troubleshooting logs; it is not an uninstall tool.
