PerimeterX announced a $57 million growth-capital round on February 23, 2021, led by AllianceBernstein. The company said it would use the financing to expand into new industries and geographies, including financial services, EMEA and APAC. PerimeterX reported that the round brought its total capital raised to $144 million.

Who led PerimeterX’s $57 million round?

AllianceBernstein led the financing. PerimeterX’s February 23, 2021 release also named new investors Stereo Capital, JS Capital and Golden Arc Capital, alongside returning supporters Adams Street Partners, Canaan Partners, DTCP, Scale Venture Partners and Vertex Ventures US. The company said its total capital raised reached $144 million after the round. PerimeterX’s announcement is the source for these financing details.

Why did PerimeterX raise the money?

The stated goal was to broaden the company’s reach beyond its core retail e-commerce business. CEO Omri Iluz said the financing would support entry into industries where PerimeterX saw uptake, including financial services, and further development in EMEA and APAC, where it already had a foothold. In other words, the announcement described growth capital for geographic and vertical expansion, not a product launch.

Abhishek Sud, managing director of AllianceBernstein Growth Stage Capital, said the firm saw expanding global opportunities for PerimeterX’s solutions as businesses accelerated digital transformation. He also pointed to the platform’s cloud-native design and integration with existing infrastructure. Those comments represent the investors’ rationale in the announcement, not an independent assessment of product effectiveness.

What did PerimeterX sell?

PerimeterX described its offering as enterprise web application security services. Its release named Bot Defender, Code Defender and Page Defender as services for detecting risks to web applications and proactively managing them. That places the company in business security software delivered as a service, rather than in consumer hardware or a physical product category.

The company listed integrations with Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Snyk, DataDog and Splunk. A prior company release also described integrations with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure and Okta, as well as account-takeover protection. These are descriptions published by PerimeterX; the 2021 financing announcement does not establish which products, integrations or partner arrangements remain available today.

What scale did PerimeterX report?

PerimeterX used operating figures to explain the financing context. The figures below are claims from the company’s February 23, 2021 announcement, not independently audited or verified statistics:

Company-reported figure Period or definition
More than $100 billion in e-commerce revenue protected Calendar year 2020
More than 2 billion login requests processed per day Daily volume cited in the 2021 announcement
More than $12 billion in e-commerce revenue protected Cyber 5 during the 2020 holiday period
A record 93 billion requests processed Cyber 5 during the 2020 holiday period
50 customer wins Fiscal year ending January 31, 2021

The company’s release does not provide a third-party audit or further methodology for these figures, so they should be read as PerimeterX-reported operating metrics rather than independently confirmed measurements. The release supplies the dated context for each claim.

What the funding announcement does—and does not—establish

The announcement documents a 2021 financing round and the expansion plans PerimeterX stated at that time. It is not evidence that the round is recent, that the named product lineup or integrations are currently offered, or that the company’s partner ecosystem still operates on the same terms. Although the release names technology and services partners, it does not describe affiliate commissions, signup terms or a present-day partner program. SecurityWeek’s contemporaneous coverage framed the deal as an expansion of bot protection, but the detailed funding and company operating figures above come from PerimeterX’s own announcement.
