A teardown of Gmail for Android build v2026.09.14.986636867.Release reportedly found the prompt “Accomplish this Task” and a companion string for references. The strings are associated with Gmail’s AI Inbox task workflow, but they do not show that Gmail can complete tasks for users: the report says the prompt is not available yet, and the code provides no release date.
What is Gmail’s “Accomplish this Task” prompt?
NerdsChalk reports that its comparison of Gmail for Android build v2026.09.14.986636867.Release with an earlier version uncovered the code string MSG_AI_INBOX_AGENTIC_FULFILLMENT_TASK_PROMPT = “Accomplish this Task”. The report, updated October 2, 2026, associates the prompt with AI Inbox’s task workflow. Read the NerdsChalk report.
The wording suggests an instruction to fulfill a selected task, but that is the report’s interpretation of a string in app code—not a demonstration of a working Gmail capability. The teardown does not establish what tasks the feature might handle, what actions it could take, or what the interface would look like.
What do the reference links mean?
The same build reportedly contains MSG_AI_INBOX_AGENTIC_FULFILLMENT_TASK_PROMPT_REFERENCES = “References: {URLS}”. This indicates a references field with a URL placeholder in the reported code. It does not reveal how any links would be selected, whether they would be shown to users, or how they would relate to a task.

How does this relate to AI Inbox?
NerdsChalk places the new strings in the context of AI Inbox, which its report describes as a way Google had announced to surface suggested to-dos and help users manage them. The report also notes other workflow strings—“Start,” “Help me start,” “Suggest reply,” “Draft Reply,” and “Review”—and reads “Accomplish this Task” as a more direct task-fulfillment instruction. Those strings provide context, not proof that Gmail can carry out the actions implied by the wording.
Is the prompt available in Gmail yet?
No. NerdsChalk says the prompt is not available to users and that the code gives no indication of when it might appear. An APK teardown finds strings in an app build; it does not confirm a public release. Such work-in-progress code may change, remain behind a server-side flag, or be dropped. The report is the source for the specific prompt and build details; this account does not include independent official confirmation of this prompt.
