No confirmed drug production or dealing has been announced for Gray Zone Warfare’s Update 0.5. MADFINGER Games says the update, called Rogue Ops, will add Hideout building, crafting, and smuggling activities for rogue PMCs. The studio’s “drug baron” framing is not supported by the details it has released so far.
What is Gray Zone Warfare: Rogue Ops?
Rogue Ops is the announced Update 0.5 for Gray Zone Warfare. MADFINGER describes it as a development milestone that moves the game from pre-alpha to alpha and introduces a new gameplay loop centered on building a Hideout and crafting. The studio also previews new weapons, large locations, and community-requested improvements, but has not detailed those additions in the teaser.

The announcement describes the smuggling hook this way: “You’ll also have the unprecedented opportunity to become a rogue PMC, taking part in completely new smuggling activities.” That confirms smuggling as a feature, but not what goods players will handle or how the activity works. Can you become a drug baron in Gray Zone Warfare?
That is not established by the official teaser. It mentions smuggling, but does not identify drugs, narcotics, production, or dealing. Until MADFINGER provides more detail, “drug baron” should be treated as headline framing—not a confirmed description of a game mechanic.

When does Update 0.5 release?
MADFINGER announced October 22, 2026 as the full launch date, with a Supporter Preview scheduled to begin October 19. The preview is described as an early opportunity for Supporter Edition owners to try the update and help identify remaining issues. These are announced dates, not completed events; the schedule could change.
What gets wiped in Update 0.5?
The announced soft wipe applies to players who participated in Update 0.4. MADFINGER says these parts of progression will be retained and reset:
