The new official prices are $67.50 and $77.50, respectively. The increase is limited to those two configurations: the 1GB Pi 4 and Pi 5 and 2GB Compute Module 4 and 5 prices were unchanged in the announcement.
Which Raspberry Pi models went up in price?
Raspberry Pi’s 1 October 2026 announcement lists two affected boards. These are US prices announced by the manufacturer; local retail prices, stock and availability can differ.
| Board | Previous price | New official price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raspberry Pi 4, 2GB | $55 | $67.50 | $12.50 |
| Raspberry Pi 5, 2GB | $65 | $77.50 | $12.50 |
The previous and new prices are reported by Tom’s Hardware; the new prices and $12.50 changes are confirmed in Raspberry Pi’s announcement.
Models excluded from the October increase
Raspberry Pi said the 1GB Raspberry Pi 4 and 1GB Raspberry Pi 5, as well as 2GB Compute Module 4 and Compute Module 5 models, were unchanged. The October announcement was not a price rise across the entire Raspberry Pi range.

How much are prices up in percentage terms?
Tom’s Hardware calculates the October increase against the prices immediately before the announcement: 23% for the Pi 4 2GB, from $55 to $67.50, and 19% for the Pi 5 2GB, from $65 to $77.50. The percentage changes with the comparison point: Tom’s also reports that the Pi 5 2GB’s new $77.50 price is 55% above its original $50 MSRP. A percentage should therefore be read with its baseline, not as a measure of every increase across the product’s history.
Why did Raspberry Pi raise the prices?
Raspberry Pi said rising memory costs made it no longer sustainable to hold the two 2GB prices through the April 2026 increase. In its 1 April announcement, the company said the price of LPDDR4 DRAM used in Pi 4 and Pi 5 had increased seven-fold over the preceding year. That is Raspberry Pi’s statement about its input costs, rather than an independently measured market series.

- Package Include: 1x Pi 5 2GB, 1x Pi 5 Case, 1x Active Cooler.
- Lightweight texture: Compared to metal case,ABS case have a softer texture and feel, and the rounded design prevents damage to motherboard components. Meanwhile, the red and white color scheme of the ABS case is visually simple, clean and comfortable.
- Specialized case design: This case is specially designed for Raspberry Pi5, perfectly fits the motherboard and can be fixed with 4 screws, which can effectively protect the Pi 5 motherboard from damage and external interference. The case is partially hollowed out to ensure heat dissipation. Equipped with transparent power button, you can easily observe the status of Pi5 power indicator.
- iRasptek PWM Active Cooler: Features intelligent speed control that dynamically responds to system demand. Under Pi OS, the fan remains off at low temperatures (≤50°C) for ultimate silence; ramps up linearly at medium temperatures (50-65°C) for efficient, low-noise cooling; and operates at full speed at high temperatures (≥65°C) to aggressively dissipate heat and prevent thermal throttling. Embedded within the system’s core drivers, it continuously safeguards your board, ensuring stable, sustained, and high-performance operation.
- Welcome to the latest generation of Pi5: the everything computer. Featuring a 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, Pi 5 delivers a 2–3× increase in CPU performance relative to Pi 4. Alongside a substantial uplift in graphics performance from an 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU; dual 4Kp60 display output ; and state-of-the-art camera support from a rearchitected Image Signal Processor, it provides a smooth desktop experience for consumers, and opens the door to new applications for industrial customers.
In February, Raspberry Pi attributed earlier LPDDR4 price rises to competition for memory fabrication capacity from AI infrastructure. The company said some component costs had more than doubled over the preceding quarter in its 2 February announcement. These are the company’s explanations and figures; they do not establish that every memory component or every supplier experienced the same change.
The October announcement refers generally to rising memory costs. Although Tom’s Hardware describes shortages involving LPDDR4 and LPDDR5, Raspberry Pi’s October statement does not specifically confirm an LPDDR5 shortage.

Is this the third Raspberry Pi price rise of 2026?
The October increase is another 2026 price change, but the “third price hike” label depends on how increases are counted. Raspberry Pi’s cited announcements describe changes in February and April, followed by the October change. Tom’s Hardware characterizes October as a second round after April. The company’s October announcement itself focuses on the 2GB boards and does not call it a third round. For the models covered here, the useful point is that their prices rose in October after Raspberry Pi had held them during the April round.

Match RAM to the project
Start with the application’s memory needs rather than paying for capacity “just in case.” Raspberry Pi advises buyers to choose a board that fits their requirements and avoid unnecessary memory capacity. A lower-memory configuration may be enough for a lightweight project, but suitability depends on the software and workload.

- Raspberry Pi 5 with 8GB RAM: Model SC1112 featuring a quad-core ARM Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz. Enhanced Connectivity: Includes dual 4K micro HDMI ports, USB-C power input, and high-speed USB 3.0 ports. PCIe Expansion Support: FPC connector enables M.2 NVMe SSDs when using compatible adapters. Fast Storage Options: Works with microSD cards for booting, or optional NVMe storage for advanced projects. Built for Projects & Learning: Ideal for programming, home labs, DIY electronics, automation, and Linux-based development.
Compare generations by workload, not price alone
An older Raspberry Pi or lower-memory board may cost less if it meets the project’s needs. Raspberry Pi specifically suggests considering Pi 3 models when they are adequate. That is not a claim that an older board performs equivalently to a Pi 4 or Pi 5 for every task; check the required performance, software support and connectivity for your use case.
Check the actual local price and seller
The announced figures are US prices, not a guarantee of what a board costs in your country or from a particular retailer. Raspberry Pi recommends buying through approved resellers, warning that unauthorized sellers may charge inflated prices or supply products that are not as represented. Verify the seller’s authorization and the current regional price before ordering.

Will Raspberry Pi reverse the increases?
In the October announcement, Raspberry Pi author and CEO Eben Upton said, “The current memory supply circumstances are very challenging, but, as we’ve said before, they won’t last forever.” He also said the company looked forward to reversing its own price increases when memory prices subside. This is an outlook, not a timetable or a promise of a specific future price.
