Their “infinite” battery claim means you can keep one battery charging while the other powers the mouse—not that either battery lasts forever. The key buying choice is the shell: Sensei is symmetrical, Rival is ergonomic. Before choosing either, consider whether your grip suits the shape and whether the games you play benefit from 8K without a frame-rate penalty.
What are the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro?
Announced on September 29, 2026, SteelSeries’ Pro wireless lineup includes four models: Sensei Pro, Sensei Pro Mini, Rival Pro, and Rival Pro Mini. Each is available in black or white, according to the SteelSeries announcement and its product page.
Sensei Pro: symmetrical shape
SteelSeries describes Sensei as symmetrical. Its product-page guidance suggests the full-size version for palm and relaxed-claw grips, and the Mini for fingertip and aggressive-claw grips. Those are the manufacturer’s fit suggestions, not a guarantee that either size will feel right for every hand.
Rival Pro: ergonomic shape
Rival is the ergonomic option in the family. Choose it if that contour feels more natural to your hand; the name alone does not establish that it is better for a particular grip or game.

Size and weight vary by model and color
On the black full-size product page, SteelSeries lists the Sensei Pro at 53g and the Mini at 49g. The white page reports 54g and 50g, respectively, so color/configuration matters when quoting the Sensei figures. In Sarah Chaney’s October 2, 2026 SlashGear review, the full-size Rival measured 4.95 × 2.69 × 1.66 inches and the Sensei 4.94 × 2.62 × 1.52 inches; both were reported at about 1.86 ounces. The Mini measurements were 4.75 × 2.57 × 1.59 inches for Rival and 4.65 × 2.46 × 1.43 inches for Sensei, both about 1.73 ounces. These are the reviewer’s measurements; the official product figures differ somewhat by color and configuration.
How does the “infinite” battery system work?
Each mouse uses two rechargeable batteries. One sits in the mouse while the second charges in the base station; when the in-use battery runs low, swap them. SteelSeries calls this “Infinite Power,” but it is a rotation system that can avoid a charging interruption when you keep swapping and charging—not a battery that never needs recharging.

| Polling setting | SteelSeries rating per battery | Rated total across two batteries |
|---|---|---|
| 1KHz | Up to 60 hours | Up to 120 hours |
| 8KHz | Up to 16 hours | Up to 32 hours |
These are SteelSeries’ “up to” ratings, not a guarantee for every setup. Tom’s Guide’s September 29, 2026 review reports around 16 hours per battery at 8K and up to 60 hours at 1K, consistent with the manufacturer’s per-battery figures; it characterizes 8K use as limited in a full-tilt scenario. SlashGear’s reviewer said the base charged the spare faster than they depleted the active battery over a few hours, but that was an anecdotal observation, not a controlled battery test.
What do 8K polling and UWB mean in practice?
Polling describes how often a mouse reports its position to the computer. SteelSeries specifies polling up to 8,000Hz—up to eight times the reports of a 1,000Hz mouse—and advertises “9K” over-polling, described as sending one extra packet for every eight. These are manufacturer descriptions of the product’s reporting behavior, not proof that every player or game will feel a difference.

- Quantum Wireless technology allows accurate, reliable lag free performance on par with SteelSeries' top tier wired mice, while allowing you to remain untethered
- 24 plus hour battery life on a full charge or 10 hours from 15 minute rapid charge
- SteelSeries' most advanced optical sensor, TrueMove3 plus, provides true 1 to 1 tracking, while a secondary depth sensor adjusts the lift off distance to control movement with esports precision and accuracy
- Personalize with 256 unique center of gravity weight tuning configurations to fit your preferences
- Ultra durable gaming switches guaranteed for 60 million clicks. Lift off distance-customizable, 0.5–2 millimeter
SteelSeries says its UWB wireless operation uses the 6.4–9.056GHz spectrum and offers roughly 20 times the bandwidth of traditional 2.4GHz wireless, with less susceptibility to congestion or interference. Those are the company’s claims about its implementation. The mice use a receiver/base station connected with a USB-C to USB-A cable, according to SlashGear. That review reports adjustable polling and sensor-report settings, with 8,000Hz as the maximum, and notes that consoles may not support every feature.
High polling can have a performance trade-off
Tom’s Guide reports frame-rate drops in Valorant, Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Rust during its 8K testing. Its reviewer also says tracking and click report rates can be adjusted independently. This is a review observation, not a prediction for every PC or game, but it is a reason to test 8K in the titles you actually play and lower the setting if performance suffers.

What did reviewers notice about the mice?
Sarah Chaney’s SlashGear review says the reviewer used black full-size Sensei Pro and Rival Pro mice for about a week. They describe lightweight plastic shells, side grip stickers, two left-side buttons, preinstalled white PTFE feet, spare blue feet, and a charging base with indicators. The review also notes that the matte surface showed finger oils and that the mice did not have customizable RGB lighting. These are observations from that reviewer’s units, not universal material or durability tests.
SlashGear also mentions a separately sold travel dongle for use with a second system. The available review account does not establish current accessory availability or exact compatibility, so verify those details before treating it as part of a setup. Likewise, confirm console compatibility for the particular features you plan to use.

Who should consider a Sensei Pro or Rival Pro?
This is a fit-sensitive purchase: pick the shell and size before treating the headline polling number as the deciding feature.
- Consider the Sensei Pro if you prefer a symmetrical mouse and its size suits your hand and grip.
- Consider the Rival Pro if you prefer an ergonomic contour.
- Consider either Mini if its smaller dimensions suit your grip better than the full-size model; SteelSeries specifically recommends the Sensei Mini for fingertip and aggressive-claw grips.
- Value the battery arrangement if swapping a charged battery while the other recharges is useful in your setup.
- Be cautious about choosing solely for 8K if you expect to use that setting continuously: the manufacturer rates each battery for up to 16 hours at 8K, and Tom’s Guide observed frame-rate drops in some games.
