When does Gears of War: E-Day unlock?
The worldwide release is scheduled for October 6, 2026, at 15:00 UTC, which is 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Eligible Premium Edition players received early access beginning October 1, 2026, at 15:00 UTC. What platforms and access routes are available?
Xbox lists Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Steam. It also lists cloud gaming through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. Those are distinct ways to access the game: a cloud option does not establish that a particular local PC meets the Windows version’s requirements. Does the PC version require a ray-tracing GPU?

The figures are The Coalition’s launch PC specification table as reported by PC Gamer on October 1, 2026. The named cards are examples in those requirements, not a complete compatibility list or a controlled performance ranking. An unlisted card should not be assumed compatible just because its model number or price looks comparable; consult the current requirements on the store where you plan to play before buying or upgrading.
Storage requirement
The expanded launch requirements reported on October 1, 2026 specify 115 GB of SSD storage. Storage figures can change between specification updates, so use this dated launch figure rather than an earlier report.

Can upscaling or frame generation get around the requirement?
No published statement says these features remove the hardware ray-tracing requirement. Xbox lists NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution, NVIDIA Reflex, AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, Intel XeSS, and Advanced Shader Delivery on compatible hardware. They are PC features, but their presence should not be treated as proof that a graphics card without hardware ray tracing can run the game. Xbox’s announcement lists the technologies.

- Identify your exact GPU model. Check Windows’ Task Manager under Performance, or open Device Manager and expand Display adapters.
- Check hardware ray-tracing support. The requirement is for the GPU to support hardware ray tracing, not merely for a graphics setting or software feature to be available.
- Compare the model with the published tier. The RTX 2060 and RX 6600 are the stated minimum examples; RTX 3060 Ti and RX 6700 XT are recommended examples. These examples do not settle compatibility for every other card.
- Verify the current store requirements before spending money. The final Xbox specifications are presented as an image, while the cited detailed tier figures are reported from The Coalition’s launch table. Confirm against the current Xbox or Steam listing for your edition and platform.
If a local PC is not suitable, Xbox lists Xbox Series X|S as another platform and cloud gaming through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW as access options. Service availability, eligibility, and terms may vary.
