To remove one learned word from Samsung Keyboard, open an app where the keyboard appears, touch and hold the unwanted word in the suggestion bar, then confirm removal. To hide suggestions more broadly, turn off Predictive text or the phrase-suggestion control. To clear learned predictions in bulk, use Erase personalized predictions.
Remove one suggested word from Samsung Keyboard
- Open an app where Samsung Keyboard appears.
- When the unwanted word appears in the suggestion bar, touch and hold it. Samsung UK’s instructions say to “tap and hold the word.”
- Confirm the prompt to remove the word from learned suggestions.
Samsung UK’s instructions for predictive text and Samsung Korea’s guide to phrase suggestions describe removing a single word this way.
Turn off suggestions more broadly
- Open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Switch off Predictive text or the equivalent phrase-suggestion control shown on your device.
Predictive suggestions and Auto replace are separate controls. If you want to keep automatic text replacement, check its setting separately rather than assuming it will switch off with suggestions. The available controls depend on the device and software version; Samsung explains the distinction in its UK support guide.
Erase learned predictions in bulk
Use this option to remove personalized prediction data, including learned words, rather than deleting just one suggestion. Samsung US documents this path:

- Open Settings and search for Samsung Keyboard.
- Scroll to Reset to default settings.
- Select Erase personalized predictions, then confirm Erase.
This is distinct from resetting all keyboard settings, clearing the keyboard cache, or deleting personalized touch-recognition data; Samsung lists these as separate options in its Galaxy keyboard settings guide.

If the setting or word is not where you expect
- Menu names differ: Samsung cautions that paths and screen layouts vary by model, software, and app version. Search Settings for Samsung Keyboard if the stated path does not match. Older devices may place options under Language and input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > Smart typing or a related menu. See Samsung UK’s guidance and Samsung Korea’s 2025 guide.
- The word is still visible: Make sure it is appearing in Samsung Keyboard’s suggestion bar, then touch and hold that exact item when it appears and confirm removal.
- You want prediction learning to start over: Use Erase personalized predictions, not cache clearing or an unrelated reset. Samsung does not promise that a removed word can never be learned again through future typing.
