The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has an S Pen built into the phone, with a slot in the device for storing it. You can take it out to write or draw on the screen without buying a separate pen for basic use.
What can you do with the S22 Ultra’s S Pen?
Samsung’s support guide explains that you can remove the pen from the bottom of the phone and write directly on the display. The S Pen also supports handwriting input that converts writing to text, and Smart Select tools for capturing or extracting on-screen content. See Samsung’s S Pen support guide.
Samsung lists the replacement S Pen’s published specifications as a 0.7 mm tip and 4,096 pressure levels. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Its Bluetooth remote features include functions such as taking pictures and controlling media through Air Actions; those actions require the S Pen to be charged, and availability can vary by app. See Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra S Pen product page.
Is the S Pen included, or is it an optional accessory?
The S22 Ultra’s S Pen is integrated into the phone and stores in its built-in slot. This differs from the Galaxy S21 Ultra: Samsung describes the S21 Ultra S Pen as an optional accessory, while the S22 Ultra is the first Galaxy S-series model with a built-in pen. Will another Samsung S Pen work with the S22 Ultra?
Compatibility depends on the pen and the function you need. Samsung says some other built-in S Pens can be used for writing only, and specifically states that the Galaxy Z Fold3 S Pen is not supported on the S22 Ultra. Do not assume that every Samsung S Pen offers full S22 Ultra features; check Samsung’s model and function compatibility guidance.
What if you need a replacement?
If the original pen is lost or damaged, Samsung lists a dedicated replacement S Pen for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Its UK business listing gives product code EJ-PS908BBEGEU; regional listings may use different suffixes or colors. Before ordering, verify that the listing explicitly names the S22 Ultra and check the regional model code, color, and whether you need Bluetooth Air Actions. Samsung’s UK replacement listing and Gulf product page are regional examples; availability can change.
