Cinnamon 6.0 adds Nemo file-manager Actions, an experimental Wayland session, restored 75% display scaling and several practical interaction options. These are features documented for Linux Mint 21.3 “Virginia”—not a description of the Cinnamon version in Linux Mint’s current 22.3 download release.
Where Cinnamon 6.0 fits
Linux Mint’s Cinnamon 6.0 feature notes are part of the Linux Mint 21.3 “Virginia” release documentation. The project’s current download page identifies Linux Mint 22.3, so treat Cinnamon 6.0 below as a version-specific feature set, not the current release. Linux Mint describes Cinnamon Edition as its most popular edition.
What are Actions in Cinnamon 6.0?
Actions are a new kind of Cinnamon add-on, called a “spice” in Linux Mint’s terminology. Unlike applets, desklets, extensions and themes, Actions add commands to the Nemo file manager’s right-click context menu. The project says users can download, enable and rate Actions like other spices.
The release notes illustrate the idea with right-click options for an ISO file: “Make bootable USB stick” and “Verify,” provided by the mintstick package. Those commands demonstrate how a context-menu Action works; using or understanding Actions does not require making a USB drive.

Is Wayland ready to replace Xorg?
No—not in Cinnamon 6.0 as documented for Linux Mint 21.3. Users could choose an experimental Wayland session from the login screen to preview it and provide feedback, but Linux Mint cautioned that it was less stable and less feature-complete than the default session. The project put it plainly: “The Wayland session isn’t as stable as the default one. It lacks features and it comes with its own limitations.”
Linux Mint said Wayland was not expected to replace Xorg as the default in Linux Mint 21.3 or 22.x. That is the project’s assessment for those releases, not a claim about the state of later Cinnamon versions.

Smaller workflow refinements
- Applications in the menu can be edited through their right-click properties.
- The sound applet gains an action for shift-middle-click.
- The grouped-window list can be configured to show nothing when hovering over an app button.
Linux Mint also lists bug fixes and performance improvements, but its feature notes do not provide benchmark measurements, so they do not establish a quantified speed gain.
Quick Recap
