AMD announced on February 28, 2025, that Radeon RX 9000 Series cards were expected to be available from board partners beginning March 6, 2025. That date has passed: it was an announced starting point for partner-card availability, not a guarantee that every RX 9070 XT model was in stock in every region. AMD also announced a U.S. suggested e-tail price (SEP) of $599 for the RX 9070 XT; that is a historical launch price, not a current retail quote.
When did the RX 9070 XT come out?
AMD formally announced the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 on February 28, 2025, as its first RDNA 4 graphics cards. The company said cards from Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX, and Yeston were expected to be available beginning March 6, 2025. The wording was “expected to be available beginning,” so it described the planned start of partner availability rather than confirming universal, same-day stock.
Before AMD’s announcement, March 6 had been reported as a possible date amid shifting launch rumors. On February 28 it became AMD’s announced date. AMD’s announcement gives the date and partner list; contemporaneous coverage from Tom’s Hardware describes the earlier uncertainty.
What was the RX 9070 XT launch price?
AMD announced a $599 U.S. SEP for the RX 9070 XT on February 28, 2025. SEP is a suggested price, not proof that every partner model sold at that amount. It should not be treated as the card’s current retail price: actual prices depend on the particular model, seller, and market, and this historical announcement does not establish today’s pricing.

AMD announced a $549 U.S. SEP for the RX 9070 alongside it. RX 9070 XT specifications published by AMD
AMD’s product specifications list the following figures for the RX 9070 XT. They describe the GPU model at the family level; they do not establish that every board-partner card has identical dimensions, cooling, connector placement, clocks, or price.
Rank #2
- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
| Specification | AMD-listed RX 9070 XT value |
|---|---|
| Compute units | 64 |
| Graphics memory | 16 GB GDDR6 |
| Memory interface | 256-bit |
| Typical board power | 304 W |
| Minimum power supply recommendation | 750 W |
These are AMD’s published specifications, not independent measurements. They do not by themselves establish gaming frame rates or a direct performance result against another card. AMD’s graphics specifications page is the source for the figures.

Check the exact partner card
Board-partner versions can differ in physical size, cooling, connector layout, clock behavior, and price. Confirm the exact model’s manufacturer specifications and seller listing, particularly whether it fits your case and has the required power connections. AMD’s family-level specifications are not a substitute for those model-specific details.
Rank #3
- OC mode (GPU Tweak III) up to 3030 MHz (Boost Clock) / up to 2480 MHz (Game Clock)
Evaluate the whole system’s power needs
AMD lists a 750 W minimum PSU recommendation for the RX 9070 XT. This is a recommendation, not a guarantee that every existing PC needs a new power supply. Consider the full system configuration and the exact partner card, then compare it with the PSU maker’s specifications and the card manufacturer’s requirements.
Separate launch context from current value
At launch, coverage positioned the RX 9070 XT in the upper-midrange 1440p and 4K gaming conversation, including comparisons with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti. Those descriptions are market framing, not controlled head-to-head test results. Use independent testing of the specific cards and current local prices to judge value; the February 2025 announcement cannot establish either.
