For the October 2–4, 2026, weekend, the three picks are Chucky for gory horror with comic bite, Scream Queens for a campy campus slasher, and Miss Scarlet for a Victorian detective mystery. They are weekend recommendations, not shows that all premiere during those three days; the listed October dates are October 1 for Scream Queens and Miss Scarlet, and October 4 for Chucky.
Which show fits your weekend?
| Show | Seasons listed | Best fit | Premise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chucky | 1–3 | Gory horror with dark comedy | A killer doll terrorizes a small New Jersey town. |
| Scream Queens | 1–2 | Campy, satirical slasher comedy | A killer in a Red Devil costume targets students around Kappa Kappa Tau at Wallace University. |
| Miss Scarlet | 1 | Period detective mystery | In 1880s London, Eliza Scarlet takes over her late father’s struggling detective agency. |
The distinctions are about mood, not an objective ranking: choose Chucky for a murderous toy and gore, Scream Queens for an ensemble of college characters and satirical scares, or Miss Scarlet to trade horror for a Victorian case-solving story.
Chucky: a killer doll with a comic streak
Don Mancini continues the Child’s Play story in this series, where the familiar killer doll brings violence and sharp humor to a small New Jersey town. It is the pick for viewers who want their horror gory but not humorless. Tom’s Guide’s October 2026 schedule lists seasons 1–3 for October 4.
Tom’s Guide reported a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score for Chucky in its 2026 article, but did not state when the score was captured. Treat it as a dated-source snapshot, not a guarantee of the current score.

Scream Queens: campus slasher meets satire
At Wallace University, students connected to Kappa Kappa Tau face a killer dressed as the Red Devil. Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, the horror-comedy features Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis among its cast. Its camp and ensemble-driven setup make it the best match here for viewers who want scares alongside comic, satirical energy. The October 2026 schedule lists seasons 1–2 for October 1.
Tom’s Guide’s 2026 article attributed a 68% critics’ score and a 79% audience score for season one to Rotten Tomatoes. The capture date was not stated, so both figures are snapshots rather than current-score claims.

Miss Scarlet: a Victorian mystery without the slasher premise
Originally titled Miss Scarlet and the Duke, the series follows Eliza Scarlet, played by Kate Phillips. After her father’s death leaves her broke, she takes over his struggling detective agency in 1880s London. It offers a period investigation instead of the list’s horror and slasher-comedy premises. Tom’s Guide’s October 2026 schedule lists season 1 for October 1.
Tom’s Guide reported an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score for the first season in its 2026 article. It did not identify when that score was captured; check Rotten Tomatoes for a current figure rather than treating the reported percentage as permanent.
