Not across the board. TrendForce’s September 30, 2026 forecast projects NAND flash contract prices to rise 15–20% quarter over quarter in Q4, but that is not a prediction that every SSD on store shelves will cost 15–20% more. The outlook is especially strong for enterprise SSDs; increases for consumer-facing client SSDs are expected to be more restrained.

What the latest SSD price forecast actually says

TrendForce’s September 30, 2026 outlook concerns negotiated NAND flash contract prices—the prices in supplier-buyer agreements—not guaranteed retail prices for finished SSDs. It forecasts a 15–20% quarter-over-quarter increase in NAND flash contract prices in Q4 2026. The forecast is an analyst projection, not a report of prices that have already risen or an independent measure of current store prices. TrendForce’s Q4 2026 NAND flash outlook.

The headline therefore needs a distinction: the forecast signals upward pressure in the supply chain, but its impact on shoppers depends on SSD segment, inventory, capacity, interface and retailer pricing. TrendForce’s September 24 research listing describes a separate SSD street-price dataset segmented by capacity and interface, but its public summary does not give a specific current retail price. TrendForce research directory.

Why enterprise SSD prices face stronger pressure

TrendForce expects enterprise SSD price growth to accelerate in Q4. It projects enterprise SSD bit demand to grow by more than 80% year over year in 2026 and says suppliers have already committed most incremental supply. In this outlook, enterprise SSDs are the only memory product category for which TrendForce expects price growth to be larger than in the prior quarter. These are forecasts, not observed retail-price changes. TrendForce’s Q4 2026 NAND flash outlook.

The demand driver is cloud infrastructure. In a September 21 analysis, TrendForce described stronger orders from North American cloud service providers and broader adoption of enterprise SSDs, including QLC drives valued for capacity and cost efficiency. Data retrieval and caching workloads are among the uses supporting demand. TrendForce’s enterprise SSD analysis.

Why client SSDs may see smaller increases

Client SSDs—the drives used in PCs—have a different near-term supply and demand balance in TrendForce’s forecast. PC manufacturers can draw on finished goods and channel inventory accumulated in the first half of 2026 to support Q4 shipments. Meanwhile, PC brands are reducing SSD capacities in mainstream models to control component costs, which lowers both procurement volumes and average SSD capacity per device.

TrendForce also says suppliers are taking a more flexible approach to pricing while client-side procurement requirements remain limited. That combination is why the firm expects client SSD price increases to be restrained relative to the stronger enterprise outlook. It does not mean every client SSD will hold its price: the forecast describes a market tendency, not the price path of a particular retail model. TrendForce’s Q4 2026 NAND flash outlook.

What SSD shoppers should do

A market forecast cannot tell you whether a specific drive is a good deal today. For a purchase or upgrade, compare like with like: check the current retail price for the capacity and interface you need, then confirm your device supports that drive. A SATA3 SSD and a PCIe NVMe SSD, for example, are not interchangeable comparisons just because both are sold as internal SSDs.

  • Check the device’s supported form factor and interface before buying.
  • Compare the same capacity and interface across current listings.
  • Use a live seller price rather than applying the NAND contract-price forecast directly to a retail SSD.

The available TrendForce street-price listing is segmented by interface and capacity, but its public summary does not establish a live price for any individual model. It also does not substantiate a particular product recommendation. TrendForce research directory.
