A blower-cooled GeForce RTX 5090 has surfaced in reports, but the April 2025 sighting was described as an apparent modified RTX 5090D—not a confirmed NVIDIA retail model. Its two-slot, rear-exhaust design could suit tightly packed multi-GPU systems. The card’s exact power draw, performance, noise and current availability have not been verified.

What is a blower-style RTX 5090?

A blower-style graphics card draws air through its cooler and pushes heated air out through the rear of the computer case. That differs from the open-air coolers common on gaming cards, which generally move heat into the surrounding case.

HotHardware reported on April 18, 2025, that an apparent modified GeForce RTX 5090D had appeared in a video. The reported card had a two-slot profile, rear exhaust and a power connector at the rear of the card. HotHardware’s account traced the sighting through VideoCardz to a UNIKO’s Hardware post about a Bilibili video; the identification should be treated as that report’s interpretation, not as independent confirmation of a production model. Is the RTX 5090 blower cooler official?

The original sighting did not establish that NVIDIA or a board partner had launched an official retail blower RTX 5090. Later reports describe other unofficial conversions and separate product appearances, but they do not verify the origin of the card in the April video.

Copper GPU Water Cooling Block GPU Waterblock for Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 32G D7 Turbo V1 ,for Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 32G Blower
  • The base plate is made of T2 purple copper, with a high thermal conductivity of 401W/m.k, which enhances heat conduction performance and increases the heat dissipation area.
  • The 0.3MM jet-type micro features 56 water channels, increasing the heat absorption area and delivering powerful heat dissipation performance.
  • The matte texture process backplate is made of high-quality aluminum material and is installed in an upper and lower interlayer style, providing all-round protection.
  • The full-coverage steel plate is extended to 136.55MM, increasing the water flow coverage area. Reducing the weight of the GPU BLOCK, protecting the PCB from deformation, and combining with the electroless nickel plating surface treatment process, the thermal resistance of the 0.001-0.002MM coating thickness is almost zero, while more effectively preventing corrosion and erosion.
  • Designed with a 9.5MM copper plate, it uses sufficient materials and adopts a single-layer sealing ring design to effectively reduce the risk of leakage.

Later reports and listings

  • In May 2025, VideoCardz reported blower-style RTX 5090 cards in China and described unofficial conversions using components from existing cards on redesigned boards. VideoCardz, May 2025
  • In August 2025, VideoCardz reported a retailer listing for an AFOX RTX 5090 blower card and said AFOX’s status as an NVIDIA board partner was unclear. Tom’s Hardware later reported a US retailer listing for an AFOX GeForce RTX 5090 32GB Professional at $5,999. These were dated listings, not confirmation of current stock or Amazon availability. • In January 2026, VideoCardz described China-market listings for blower conversions across several RTX 50-series models, characterizing them as non-official designs intended to fit more GPUs into a chassis. Prices in that dated report should not be read as current prices. VideoCardz, January 2026
  • VideoCardz later reported that PELADN showed a dual-slot blower-cooled RTX 5090 at Computex 2026. A trade-show appearance demonstrates the concept’s continued presence, not broad retail availability. VideoCardz, Computex 2026

Why would an AI server use a blower GPU?

In a workstation or server with several graphics cards installed close together, a narrow card that exhausts heat out of the back can help direct hot air out of a crowded chassis. The two-slot layout may also make it easier to fit more cards than with wider open-air coolers. This is a system-layout advantage, not evidence that a blower card is quieter, faster or better for a typical gaming PC.

There are trade-offs to check before building around one: actual slot occupancy, chassis airflow, the card’s power connector position, and measurements of temperature and noise at a known power limit. The cited reports do not provide a controlled blower-versus-open-air RTX 5090 comparison, so they do not establish an acoustic or performance winner.

How much power does a blower RTX 5090 use?

The original report did not establish the modified card’s power draw. As its author put it, “It’s not clear how much power is on tap.” Do not assume the reference RTX 5090’s figures apply to that modified unit.

NVIDIA lists the reference GeForce RTX 5090 configuration with 575 W total graphics power and a 1,000 W required system power supply. These are NVIDIA’s product-page specifications, retrieved in 2026; NVIDIA cautions that specifications can vary by add-in-card manufacturer. They describe the reference product, not a measurement or confirmed setting for the pictured modification. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 specifications

What is confirmed—and what remains unknown?

NVIDIA’s reference RTX 5090 specification page lists 21,760 CUDA cores, 32 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit interface, a 2.41 GHz boost clock, 575 W total graphics power and 1,000 W required system power. Those figures provide product-family context only; they do not establish the specifications of the modified card.

For the original blower-style sighting, the cited reporting does not verify board provenance, exact power draw, temperatures, noise, gaming or AI performance, warranty, or current availability. A dated listing or trade-show appearance is not proof that the pictured design is currently available to buy. Anyone evaluating a listing should confirm the exact model and cooler, seller provenance, warranty terms, board power and chassis compatibility rather than relying on a standard RTX 5090 product page.
