The offering later closed on October 15, 2013. The expansion figures below describe plans announced at the time, not verified final construction or spending results.
What was QTS’s IPO plan?
In an August 19, 2013 report, Data Center Knowledge said QTS planned to raise $300 million through an initial public offering. The company proposed converting to a real estate investment trust and listing on the New York Stock Exchange as QTS Realty Trust Inc. under the ticker QTS.
The plan became a completed offering: an SEC filing records that the IPO closed on October 15, 2013. QTS sold 14,087,500 Class A shares, including shares covered by the underwriters’ fully exercised option, at an offer price of $21 per share. See the SEC’s Form 8-K and Form 10-Q.
How was QTS planning to use the proceeds?
QTS outlined up to $277 million in planned investment over the following two years to add more than 312,000 square feet of customer space across seven data centers. The announced allocations were:

Why did QTS emphasize redevelopment?
QTS framed redevelopment of its existing facilities as a way to add capacity without constructing new buildings or acquiring additional properties or land. Its filing stated: “We believe our redevelopment pipeline provides us with a multi-year growth opportunity at very attractive risk-adjusted returns without the need to construct new buildings or acquire additional properties or land for development.” This was the company’s rationale, not an independently verified forecast of returns or project outcomes.

What became of QTS’s public listing?
The ticker QTS refers to the company’s historical public listing, not a current investment opportunity. An SEC post-effective amendment dated August 31, 2021 documents a successor merger and termination of the registered offering. In an August 26, 2026 release, QTS Data Centers described the business as a Blackstone portfolio company. The IPO announcement therefore belongs to the company’s history; it should not be read as current IPO news.
