CES 2025 showed AI spreading through graphics, developer tools, robotics, health and vehicles, alongside connected-infrastructure concepts, autonomous mobility and software-defined vehicle platforms. The clearest consumer hardware announcement was NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series; other headline projects ranged from developer systems to company-described concepts and platforms, not necessarily products available to buy.

What CES 2025 covered

CES ran in Las Vegas from January 7–10, 2025. In its January 10 recap, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) reported more than 141,000 attendees and more than 4,500 exhibitors, including 1,400 startups. CTA’s opening and preview materials highlighted AI, digital health, sustainability, next-generation mobility and quantum computing.

Rather than presenting AI as a separate category, CES framed it as a capability being added to products and services across industries. The same cross-category pattern appeared in connected infrastructure, mobility and health: many announcements described platforms, demonstrations or intended applications, not independently verified results.

What were the biggest AI announcements?

NVIDIA’s CES keynote made the AI story tangible through consumer graphics hardware, a developer-focused system and software aimed at physical AI. CTA’s preview also described generative AI as a central trend for productivity, user experiences and health.

GeForce RTX 50 series

NVIDIA introduced its GeForce RTX 50 generation, with the RTX 5090 as the flagship consumer graphics-card model. It is the most straightforward CES 2025 AI-related announcement for a PC buyer to look up as a retail product. The announcement alone does not establish current stock, price or availability in a particular country.

Agentic AI and Cosmos

NVIDIA presented an agentic AI assistant intended to streamline consumer workflows. The company also described Cosmos and related generative models as tools for training and testing physical-AI systems, including robots and autonomous vehicles. These are different uses of AI: an assistant acts on digital tasks, while physical-AI models are aimed at systems that perceive and operate in the real world.

Project DIGITS

NVIDIA introduced Project DIGITS as a compact personal AI supercomputer for developer desktops. NVIDIA said it was designed to run models with up to 200 billion parameters. That figure describes the stated model capacity of the announced system; it is not a measure of speed, output quality or how well a particular model performs.

At CES, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang forecast, “The ChatGPT moment for general robotics is just around the corner.” That was a prediction about the direction of robotics, not a demonstration that general-purpose robots had reached that capability.

What did CES show for IoT and smart communities?

CTA grouped smart communities, IoT, AI, sustainability and enterprise solutions as a focused show area. The practical direction was connected infrastructure: sensors and cameras can supply data to analytics, digital twins and automated systems. The value depends on more than collecting data; deployments also need to work with existing systems and remain useful when connectivity fails.

Tern AI’s IDPS, named a CES Innovation Awards honoree, illustrated one resilience-focused application. The company described it as providing positioning without GPS or cellular signals and integrating with consumer mapping apps. The award recognition and product description do not by themselves establish performance across all environments or deployments.

  • Where computation happens: Device- or edge-based processing can reduce reliance on a cloud connection; cloud processing can support centralized analysis. The right choice depends on the task and network conditions.
  • Interoperability: Check whether a system works with the maps, platforms and enterprise tools already in use.
  • Resilience: Ask what happens in dead zones or during jamming or other connectivity loss, and what evidence supports those claims.
  • Deployment burden: Reusing installed sensors may be simpler than adding new hardware, but compatibility and coverage still matter.

What did CES show for autonomous vehicles and mobility?

CTA’s mobility recap ranged beyond passenger cars to construction, agriculture, marine technology and advanced air travel. The announcements reflected different stages of development, so a keynote presentation, a platform partnership and a transportation concept should not be treated as equivalent evidence of road-ready autonomy.

Waymo and autonomous ride-hailing

Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana emphasized safety and plans to expand autonomous ride-hailing to additional cities while presenting the Waymo Driver platform. The CES appearance did not, on its own, establish where service was available or the status of any particular expansion.

NVIDIA, Toyota and physical-AI development

NVIDIA announced a partnership with Toyota to develop next-generation autonomous vehicles using NVIDIA’s safety-certified DriveOS operating system. NVIDIA also positioned Cosmos and generative models as tools for robotics navigation and simulation. These announcements concern development platforms and intended applications; they are not proof that a particular vehicle is commercially deployed or autonomous in every driving condition.

Air-and-road concepts

CES Unveiled highlighted Xpeng AeroHT’s Land Aircraft Carrier, a modular transportation concept. Its presence at the event shows the concept was presented, not that it was a generally available transport service or a certified vehicle.

When evaluating an autonomy claim, the useful questions are specific:

  • What operating domain and geographic limits apply?
  • What safety case and validation evidence are available?
  • What sensors and computing architecture are used?
  • What human fallback and service model exist?
  • What regulatory approvals and deployment maturity have been established?

Which digital-health products were demonstrated?

CES described digital health as spanning biotechnology, telehealth and wellness, with themes including patient care, longevity and consumer empowerment. Named exhibitors included AARP, Abbott, Eyebot, FlowBeams, Lumia Health, OnMed, Panasonic, ResMed and Withings. That exhibitor list spans organizations and product types; it does not mean every name represents a new device launched at the show.

Examples highlighted at CES

  • FaceHeart CardioMirror: CES Unveiled presented it as a cardiac-health assessment product. The event description does not establish its clinical accuracy or regulatory status.
  • Tombot Jennie: A companion robot aimed at people facing health adversities, as described at CES Unveiled.
  • Panasonic Umi: Panasonic announced a holistic digital family-wellness platform and coach.
  • MOVED: OGGMA’s autonomous hospital bed was described by the CES awards page as transporting surgical patients using dedicated elevators. OGGMA claimed it could reduce pre-surgery waiting time by more than 50%; that is the company’s stated claim, not an independently established outcome.

For a health product, distinguish a consumer wellness feature from a clinical tool. Before relying on a claim, look for evidence for the product’s intended use, regulatory status where relevant, how health data is handled, compatibility with care systems, accessibility and who is expected to buy or operate it. A CES appearance is not a substitute for that information.

What is a software-defined vehicle, and what did CES announce?

A software-defined vehicle (SDV) is built so that more vehicle functions can be managed or changed through software over the vehicle’s life, rather than being fixed to separate, narrowly defined electronic control units. Centralized computing, zonal controllers and managed power can reduce the complexity of wiring and support software updates, but they also make system safety, isolation and long-term support important design questions.

Intel’s whole-vehicle platform

Intel presented a platform combining high-performance compute, discrete graphics, AI, power management and zonal controllers. It also described a virtual development environment co-developed with AWS. This is an architecture and development approach, rather than a named consumer vehicle available to purchase.

REE Automotive’s P7-S Stripped Chassis

The CES Innovation Awards database described REE Automotive’s P7-S Stripped Chassis as a software-defined Class 4–5 EV platform that is fully by-wire and autonomous-ready. CES also said the first production model had been delivered to U-Haul. “Autonomous-ready” describes the platform’s positioning; it should not be read as evidence that the chassis itself is a fully autonomous vehicle.

For fleet operators comparing SDV platforms, the central questions are whether compute is centralized or distributed, how zonal wiring and power are managed, what update and lifecycle support is promised, how safety is certified and isolated, and how fleet customization affects total cost of ownership.

What CES 2025 products can consumers actually buy?

The announcements establish what companies presented at CES, not live retail status. Of the examples above, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series is clearly a consumer graphics-card product announcement. The available CES information does not establish current stock, prices or availability by retailer or region, so check a seller’s current listing before making a purchase decision.

Project DIGITS is a developer-oriented system, while Cosmos, DriveOS, Intel’s whole-vehicle platform and REE’s chassis are aimed at development or vehicle applications rather than ordinary consumer shopping. Waymo’s presentation concerned a ride-hailing service and expansion plans; Xpeng AeroHT’s Land Aircraft Carrier was presented as a concept. Health and IoT entries include a mix of exhibitor products, platforms and award-recognized offerings, but CES descriptions alone do not confirm consumer availability or clinical performance.

A practical way to read CES coverage is to separate four things: a product announcement, a demonstration, a platform or partnership, and a product or service you can currently obtain. Only the last requires current retailer, provider or regional availability information.
