What did the report say about HPE and Nutanix?
Bloomberg News, in a report republished by Data Center Knowledge on December 2, 2022, said HPE had expressed takeover interest in Nutanix and the companies had discussed a possible transaction in recent months. The account attributed the information to people familiar with the matter who were not identified because the discussions were not public. Read the report at Data Center Knowledge.
The talks were described as on and off, and the report left open whether HPE and Nutanix could agree on a price. It also said Nutanix might remain independent or another buyer might emerge. Those were possibilities reported at the time, not confirmed outcomes.
Did either company confirm a deal?
No. The report said an HPE representative declined to comment. A Nutanix spokesperson said the company did not comment on rumors and speculation. Neither response confirmed the reported interest or talks, and the article did not cite a named executive confirming a transaction.

What is the latest established status?
The report dates to December 2022, so it should not be treated as a new 2026 announcement. HPE’s September 2, 2026 fiscal third-quarter results release does not announce a Nutanix transaction in the surfaced material. That absence does not establish whether private discussions did or did not occur. HPE’s fiscal Q3 2026 release.
Nutanix announced on September 22, 2026, that it had acquired Ryax Technologies. That is a separate transaction, not evidence of an HPE acquisition. Nutanix’s Ryax announcement.

Why were HPE and Nutanix mentioned together?
Nutanix sells cloud software and services to businesses. Its 2025 annual report lists HPE DX series appliances among its OEM offerings. That product context indicates a connection in the OEM landscape, but it does not establish why a takeover may have been considered, whether the commercial relationship continues on the same terms, or whether the reported talks advanced.
