Nvidia announced on October 3, 2022, that it would cease its remaining activities in Russia, saying it could no longer operate effectively there. The decision followed an earlier suspension of shipments; Nvidia also said employees would have the option to continue their jobs in other countries.
What Nvidia announced
The October 3, 2022 announcement concerned Nvidia’s remaining activities in Russia, not just the shipment of products. Bloomberg’s report, republished by Yahoo Finance and DataCenterKnowledge, said Nvidia had already suspended shipments after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began. The company then announced it would cease all activities in the country.
Why Nvidia said it was leaving
Nvidia said it had retained a presence in Russia to support its employees and their families. It attributed the later decision to the difficulty of continuing operations amid the circumstances, saying: “With recent developments, we can no longer operate effectively there.”
What Nvidia said about employees
The company said employees would have the option of continuing their jobs in other countries: “All employees will be given the option of continuing their jobs in other countries.” The report did not specify how many employees were affected, when any moves would take place, or what ultimately happened to those employees.

What the 2022 report establishes—and what it does not
The two accessible articles are republications of the same Bloomberg report, rather than independent accounts. They document Nvidia’s announcement on October 3, 2022, but do not establish the company’s present-day operational status in Russia or later developments affecting employees. The announcement should therefore be read as a historical account, not as confirmation of Nvidia’s position in 2026.
