Yes. Schneider Electric agreed to buy Vertiv’s ASCO Power Technologies automatic-transfer-switch business for $1.25 billion. Vertiv announced the deal on July 27, 2017, and later reported that it closed on October 31, 2017, with net proceeds of $1,250.0 million. The transaction covered ASCO—not all of Vertiv.
What Schneider bought—and when
The asset was ASCO Power Technologies, Vertiv’s automatic-transfer-switch (ATS) business. Vertiv announced the sale to Schneider Electric on July 27, 2017. Its later SEC-filed prospectus says the disposition to Schneider Electric USA, Inc. closed on October 31, 2017.

How much Schneider paid
Vertiv announced a purchase price of $1.25 billion. In a 2020 SEC-filed prospectus describing the 2017 disposition, Vertiv reported net proceeds of $1,250.0 million. The figures are closely aligned, but they describe different measures: the announced consideration and the net proceeds reported later.
What ASCO transfer switches do
An automatic transfer switch monitors a power supply and, when the normal source fails or becomes unsuitable, switches a connected load to an alternate source, such as a generator. The equipment serves power-continuity needs in commercial and industrial settings; this was not a consumer-hardware sale.

Why Vertiv sold the business
Vertiv said the sale would let it direct additional resources to its core data-center, telecommunications, and commercial and industrial markets. It described ASCO’s ATS strengths as outside its increasingly focused digital-critical-infrastructure strategy.
Vertiv CEO Rob Johnson called the transaction “a significant step forward in our evolution as the premier provider of digital critical infrastructure solutions.” The company also said the deal fit its aim of concentrating its domain knowledge, scale, and service coverage on customer needs.

What the deal meant for each company
For Vertiv
The transaction was a portfolio change: Vertiv divested ASCO while sharpening its stated focus on digital critical infrastructure. It did not mean Vertiv sold the rest of its operations.
For Schneider Electric
Schneider acquired an established ATS business and its related commercial market position. The available deal records establish the acquisition, but do not establish current ASCO branding, product availability, or post-close organizational arrangements.
