Bloomberg L.P.’s much-reported $710 million data center was planned for 155 Corporate Drive in Orangeburg, in the Town of Orangetown, Rockland County, New York. The figure is the Rockland County Industrial Development Agency’s total project amount—not a documented single construction bill. Public records separately list a $435 million benefited project amount and year-specific tax exemptions; they do not establish the facility’s exact opening date or its current 2026 operating details.
Where is Bloomberg’s $710 million data center?
The project is at 155 Corporate Drive, Orangeburg, New York, according to the Rockland County Industrial Development Agency (IDA). Orangeburg is the hamlet and mailing-address locality; the Town of Orangetown is the municipality. The site was associated with Russo Development in 2013 coverage.
Data Center Knowledge reported on May 15, 2013, that Bloomberg planned the project at the Orangetown site. The IDA’s later project record supplies the specific Orangeburg address.
What does the $710 million figure mean?
The IDA’s certified report for fiscal 2014 lists $710 million as the total project amount and $435 million as the benefited project amount. The report was run on April 23, 2015. These are distinct fields in the agency record and should not be treated as interchangeable measures of construction spending or tax relief.

Separately, Data Center Knowledge’s 2013 account said Bloomberg planned to invest $710 million over 15 years and sought public assistance related to an initial $435 million renovation and equipment investment. The agency’s $435 million benefited amount and the article’s initial investment figure share a number, but the available records do not establish that they have identical definitions.
How much public assistance did the project receive?
The IDA reported $9,014,446.49 in exemptions for fiscal 2014. This is the amount reported for that fiscal year, not a lifetime total. The IDA’s certified fiscal 2022 report, run March 29, 2023, lists zero exemptions for fiscal 2022 and identifies 2027 as the planned end year for financial assistance. Those entries do not establish cumulative assistance across the project’s full term.
The IDA record also lists project approval on September 19, 2013, and a November 25, 2013 title date. These are agency dates associated with the project; they are not evidence of the day construction began or the facility opened.

Did Bloomberg build the data center, and when did it open?
Contemporaneous reporting describes construction milestones, including a June 2013 topping-off ceremony, and the IDA later recorded the project at its Orangeburg address. That supports the existence of a specific Bloomberg data center project, but the sources cited here do not confirm an exact opening date.

The Rockland County Times reported in June 2013 that the 130,000-square-foot building was scheduled for occupancy in the first quarter of 2014. That was a plan at the time, not confirmation that occupancy occurred on schedule. The sources do not establish the facility’s current capacity, energy use, or water use.
What employment figures were reported?
The Rockland County Times’ 2013 account said the project had created 250 construction jobs and projected 80 full-time jobs in Rockland County. The first figure was reported during construction; the 80-job figure was an expectation, not a verified eventual headcount.

In its fiscal 2022 report, the IDA listed 168 current FTEs for the project and said employment and salary details were confidential. The agency noted that the project had more than doubled its estimated job creation. This is a fiscal-year-specific agency disclosure, not a 2026 headcount or a breakdown of job types.

At the June 2013 topping-off ceremony, Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart called the project “the beginning of what we predict will be a boom in high-tech business for the town.” His remark captures the expectation surrounding the development at the time; it does not establish that a broader high-tech boom followed.

Does New York’s 2026 hyperscale data center pause apply?
In July 2026, New York announced a pause of up to one year on environmental permits for new hyperscale data centers. The announcement concerns permitting for new projects. It does not establish that the pause affected Bloomberg’s pre-existing Orangeburg facility or changed its status.
