What should Chrome users do now?
Check Chrome’s update status and install any update it offers. In Chrome, open More (the three-dot menu) > Help > About Google Chrome. Chrome checks for updates on that page; if an update is available, follow the prompt to install it and relaunch the browser. Because the reported fix dates to 2024, use Chrome’s current update status rather than relying on an old version number.

How this differs from later cryptocurrency-sector activity
Google Cloud and Mandiant reported a separate campaign attributed to UNC1069 in February 2026. That report describes social engineering, malware, and browser-data collection associated with a different operation. It is not evidence about Citrine Sleet’s 2024 exploitation of CVE-2024-7971; the actors, dates, and reported activity should not be conflated.
