It is a conventional wireless optical mouse with one unusual addition: a removable vial in the underside that you can fill with suitable aromatic oil. ASUS says the vial can be washed and refilled with different scents, but the company has not published independent scent-strength or endurance testing.
What is the ASUS fragrance mouse?
The MD101 is a three-button wireless mouse offered in Iridescent White and Rose Clay. A compartment on the bottom holds a removable fragrance vial. The vial is separate from the mouse’s electronics, and ASUS says it can be washed and refilled when you want to change scents.
The package includes an independent vial and a dropper, along with the mouse, a nano USB receiver, one AA battery, a quick-start guide and a warranty card. Aromatic oil is not included; it must be purchased separately.
How does the ASUS Fragrance Mouse smell?
ASUS has described the refillable scent feature, not a guaranteed fragrance intensity, coverage area or duration. The smell will depend on the oil, the amount added, room ventilation and individual sensitivity. No independent scent test is established by ASUS’s announcement, product page or support FAQ, so treat the fragrance as a personal desk accessory rather than a measured air-freshening system.

Can you put essential oils in the ASUS fragrance mouse?
ASUS specifically cautions against using 100% pure essential oils. Its guidance is to choose oils formulated for reed diffusers, ultrasonic diffusers or aroma stones instead. Follow that limitation rather than assuming every essential oil is safe for the vial.
- Use an aromatic oil intended for one of the diffuser categories ASUS names.
- Do not use 100% pure essential oil.
- Use the supplied dropper and keep oil in the removable vial, not elsewhere in the mouse.
- Wash the vial before changing scents, as ASUS says it is washable and refillable.
ASUS does not endorse a particular oil brand in the published materials. Stop using the vial if you notice leakage, damage or an unusual reaction, and keep oils away from children, pets and surfaces that could be damaged by them.

Those figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent laboratory results. ASUS’s 10-million-click figure is a switch-lifespan rating, not a guarantee that every mouse will reach that number in every environment.
Does the ASUS Fragrance Mouse work with Bluetooth?
Yes. The MD101 supports Bluetooth 5.3 as well as 2.4 GHz wireless operation through its nano USB receiver.

- Turn on the mouse and select Bluetooth mode according to the quick-start instructions.
- Activate pairing on the MD101.
- Open your computer’s Bluetooth settings and select the mouse when it appears.
- Complete pairing, then move the pointer to confirm the connection.
Use the 2.4 GHz receiver
- Plug the included nano USB receiver into the computer.
- Switch the mouse to 2.4 GHz mode.
- Wait for the operating system to recognize the receiver and test pointer movement.
Bluetooth avoids occupying a USB port, while the receiver mode is useful on systems without Bluetooth or when you prefer a dedicated dongle.

How long does the ASUS Fragrance Mouse battery last?
ASUS lists up to 12 months of battery life from one AA battery. The company qualifies that figure: actual life varies with usage, device settings and environmental conditions. “Up to 12 months” is therefore a maximum claim, not a promised runtime for every user.

Who is the MD101 for?
The MD101 makes sense if you want a normal office mouse plus an optional desk scent and value having both Bluetooth and USB-receiver connectivity. Its three DPI choices, PTFE feet and low-noise switches cover ordinary productivity use.

It is a poor fit if you need a gaming-focused mouse with a high polling rate, many programmable controls or documented competitive performance; ASUS’s published specifications do not position the MD101 that way. It is also unsuitable if you cannot use diffuser oils or need a fragrance-free workspace.
What ASUS has—and has not—established
- Established: the MD101 model, refillable vial design, included dropper and spare vial, connection modes, DPI settings, one-AA power, supported platforms and ASUS’s switch and battery claims.
- Not established: independent tracking accuracy, click-latency measurements, scent strength, scent duration, oil consumption rate or comparative performance against other mice.
The product is best understood as a standard wireless mouse with a novelty fragrance compartment, not as a tested aromatherapy or air-diffusion device.
