Extended GodMode does not add new Windows capabilities. It is described as a free, third-party utility that makes the settings exposed by Windows’ built-in “God Mode” folder easier to search, filter, revisit and organize. The word “unlock” therefore means faster access to existing controls, not activation of hidden operating-system features.
What Extended GodMode is
Windows contains a large, Control Panel-style inventory of configuration tasks. Extended GodMode is reported to provide a more manageable interface for that inventory. Its documented conveniences include a search box, filters, the ability to retain search results and a favorites list for settings you use repeatedly.
Those functions address discoverability. They do not create a new settings engine, bypass permissions or turn unsupported hardware features on. Whether a setting works still depends on your Windows edition, hardware, user rights and the underlying Windows component.
Extended GodMode versus Windows’ built-in God Mode
“God Mode” is not a separate Windows edition. It is a specially named folder that exposes links to many existing settings. BleepingComputer reported in October 2020 that the list could contain up to 200 settings; that is an outlet-reported figure from that period, not a current count for every installation or for every Extended GodMode release.

How to open the built-in God Mode list
You do not need Extended GodMode to view the underlying list. On Windows 10, create the folder as follows:
- Right-click an empty area of the desktop and choose New > Folder.
- Rename the folder exactly to
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. - Press Enter. Windows changes the folder’s appearance to a Control Panel-style icon.
- Open it to browse the categorized settings links.
The folder name is a shell identifier, not a password or administrator bypass. You can move the folder or delete it afterward without removing Windows itself; it is only a shortcut container.

What the utility can make easier
Search instead of category hunting
If you remember a task but not its Windows category, a text search can be quicker than scanning a large list. Searching for terms such as “backup,” “power,” or “mouse” may surface the relevant existing control panel item, subject to what your installation supports.
Filters for a narrower list
Filtering can reduce the number of entries shown while you investigate a particular group of settings. This changes the view, not the set of controls installed in Windows.

Saved results and favorites
Available descriptions say Extended GodMode can retain search results and let users mark settings as favorites. That is useful for administrators or power users who revisit the same legacy Control Panel pages, but it should not be confused with changing a setting automatically.
What “advanced features” does not mean here
- No hidden feature activation: the available descriptions support easier navigation, not the addition of capabilities.
- No license upgrade: it does not change Windows Home into Pro or grant enterprise-only functions.
- No permission bypass: settings that require administrator rights still require them.
- No guarantee of availability: entries can vary by Windows version, edition, installed components and hardware.
Compatibility and download cautions
A developer-page summary has described Extended GodMode as supporting 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11, with a 32-bit beta. The page’s current release number, maintenance status, installer integrity and present download availability were not verified. Treat that compatibility range as the developer’s stated claim rather than a current test result.

If you choose to obtain it, use the developer’s current page, check that the file and publisher match what is presented there, and avoid mirrors that repackage utilities. Keep Microsoft Defender or your organization’s endpoint protection enabled, and create a restore point or other recovery option before making broad system changes. The built-in folder shortcut is the lower-risk option when all you need is a searchable-by-eye list of settings.

Extended GodMode cannot extend Windows’ support lifecycle. Microsoft states that Windows 10 version 22H2 was the final feature update and that standard support ended on October 14, 2025. After that date, Microsoft says ordinary Windows 10 installations no longer receive regular quality updates, new or updated features, security updates or technical support under the normal lifecycle.

Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program is separate from Extended GodMode. Eligible individuals and organizations can enroll supported PCs in the paid, subscription-based program to continue receiving critical and important security updates. ESU does not add settings-navigation features, and Extended GodMode does not provide ESU protection.

- Choose the built-in folder when you only need a one-time view of Windows settings and do not want third-party software.
- Consider Extended GodMode when you regularly revisit legacy Control Panel tasks and its current developer distribution is verifiable.
