Yes. The CORSAIR VANGUARD AIR 99 WIRELESS is a low-profile wireless keyboard with a numpad, CORSAIR OPX optical-mechanical switches, and six programmable SD-keys. It connects over 2.4 GHz SLIPSTREAM Wireless v2, Bluetooth, or USB; its macro and Stream Deck controls are aimed at gaming as well as creator and productivity workflows.
What kind of keyboard is the Vanguard Air 99 Wireless?
It uses a compact 99% layout: you keep a numpad while the keyboard takes up less width than a conventional full-size board. CORSAIR’s US product listing specifies 107 keys, six macro keys, media controls, an LCD screen, a multifunction dial, and five onboard profiles. Layout and color can vary by market, so check the regional listing before ordering. CORSAIR’s product page identifies the US model as a black US-layout keyboard.
The smaller footprint comes with a layout adjustment: in its May 2026 hands-on review, TechRadar noted that the navigation cluster is compressed and the SD-keys run down the left edge. That arrangement may take getting used to if you expect a conventional full-size layout.
Are its switches optical, and can you adjust actuation?
Yes, the VANGUARD AIR 99 WIRELESS uses CORSAIR OPX low-profile optical-mechanical switches. CORSAIR says they actuate using infrared light and specifies 1.5 mm actuation and 2.5 mm total travel. The company also claims a lifespan of up to 80 million keystrokes; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified durability test. CORSAIR’s specifications list these figures.

- Customizable RGB lighting: The unique shape gives your RGB lighting more places to shine. Customize the scroll wheel, logo, and the front grill with your lighting preferences. There’s also 3-stage indicators to display DPI and profile cues
Actuation is not adjustable, according to TechRadar’s May 2026 review. If analog input or rapid-trigger-style tuning is essential, consider a keyboard designed to provide those features. The available sources do not establish hot-swappable switches for this model.
How does it connect, and what is the claimed battery life?
CORSAIR lists three connection options: 2.4 GHz SLIPSTREAM Wireless v2, Bluetooth, and wired USB. The package includes the SLIPSTREAM receiver and a USB data/charging cable. The US product listing specifies compatibility with PC, Mac, and Xbox One when using a supported USB Type-A connection; consult the regional product page for the configuration sold in your market. CORSAIR product details cover the connections and compatibility.

- Game in the Fast Lane: Play with hyper fast, sub 1ms Slipstream Corsair Wireless Technology, or connect with low latency Bluetooth or USB wired
- Weighs Just 99 grams: Lightweight construction, so you can play longer without fatigue
- Simple Setup Gets You Playing Faster: Just connect the wireless adapter to a USB port and switch the mouse on
- Contoured Shape and Rubber Side Grips: For long term comfort and a confident grip
- Up to 60 hours of Battery Life: Play uninterrupted with battery life that lasts for days, or plug in for wired mode to keep playing while charging
CORSAIR’s battery estimates depend on screen and lighting settings: it claims up to 55 hours with keyboard lighting off and the LCD at 20% brightness, or up to 29 hours with both the LCD and keyboard lighting at 20%. These are manufacturer estimates, not standardized independent measurements. TechRadar observed that brighter lighting and screen use reduce runtime, so users who keep them bright may prefer wired use. TechRadar’s May 2026 review discusses that trade-off.
What can the six macro keys do?
The six left-edge SD-keys are designed to work with the Elgato Stream Deck app. You can assign shortcuts, app launches, and workflow actions; the app also supports plugins and drag-and-drop action setup. CORSAIR describes a Virtual Stream Deck for digital shortcuts as well. The degree to which these controls suit you depends on whether you will use Stream Deck actions in addition to ordinary keyboard inputs. CORSAIR’s launch announcement outlines the Stream Deck integration.

For device setup, the quick-start guide documents CORSAIR Web Hub controls for key assignments, macros, lighting, the rotary dial, FlashTap, the screen, and Game Mode. It also explains recording macros and saving device settings to keyboard memory. The guide lists 1 MB for up to five profiles in its device-memory section and unlimited storage in software mode. The quick-start guide describes these controls and storage modes.
Set up or record a macro
- Open CORSAIR Web Hub and connect to the VANGUARD AIR 99 WIRELESS.
- Open the key-assignment or macro controls, choose the key you want to program, and select or record the action as described in the guide.
- Save the configuration to a profile or to keyboard memory if you want the setting available without relying on the software mode.
Control names and available options can depend on the software interface in use. CORSAIR’s support page, updated June 24, 2026, lists this keyboard as supported by Web Hub. The quick-start guide’s statement that iCUE would be ready by early Q2 2026 is a dated roadmap note, not confirmation of current iCUE availability or feature parity with Web Hub and Stream Deck. CORSAIR’s software support page lists supported devices.

What is FlashTap?
FlashTap is the keyboard’s SOCD function for simultaneous opposing cardinal directions. In the documented Web Hub setup, it is off by default; the guide describes enabling it, choosing a setting, and assigning a key pair. The available evidence does not establish that it provides a competitive advantage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who is the layout and feature set for?
The keyboard combines a numpad and reduced width with dedicated macro controls, screen and dial functions, and three connection modes. That combination may suit someone who wants one board for gaming and workflow shortcuts without giving up a numpad. The compressed navigation cluster and left-side SD-keys are meaningful compromises for anyone who prioritizes familiar full-size spacing.
