Fi Mini is a small, attachable GPS and health tracker for cats and small dogs. It clips to a compatible collar or harness rather than replacing one, but GPS and LTE features require an active Fi plan. Before buying, verify the attachment width, cellular coverage where your pet travels, safe collar hardware and the recurring service cost.
What Fi Mini does
Fi lists Fi Mini as an LTE-connected GPS tracker with live location, location history, escape alerts, geofencing, activity tracking and sleep monitoring. It uses Verizon LTE-M for cellular connectivity, according to Fi’s product information. The device is an add-on: you supply a compatible collar or harness and attach the tracker to it.

Fi Mini GPS Cat Tracker, Collar Attachment, 1-Month Membership Included | Buy on Amazon |
Fi’s launch announcement quotes founder and CEO Jonathan Bensamoun saying pet owners should not have to replace a collar they like to get GPS tracking. That design is useful if your pet already wears a well-fitting collar or harness, but it makes compatibility and secure attachment your responsibility.
Which collars and harnesses fit?
Fi’s launch specification lists compatible collar or harness widths from 3/8 inch to 1 inch. Fi also lists the device weight as 0.56 ounces. These are company specifications from the launch announcement, not independent measurements.
#1 Best Overall
- GPS THAT CLIPS ONTO THEIR OWN COLLAR: The Fi Mini attaches to the collar your cat already wears and shows their live location in the Fi app, with nationwide coverage and no range limit, so an open door never turns into days of searching the neighborhood.
- FIRST MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP INCLUDED: Unbox, clip on, pair with the Fi app, and live tracking works the same day. Membership renews after the included first month to keep GPS service active.
- ESCAPE ALERTS AND VIRTUAL FENCES: Set safe zones around home or the yard and get notified the instant your cat leaves one. Household members can share the app, so everyone is alerted together.
- ACTIVITY, STEPS, AND REST: The Fi app counts daily steps, tracks active minutes, and logs rest, so you can see how much your cat actually roams and notice changes in routine. A genuine health and activity monitor for cats, not just a location dot on a map.
- LIGHTWEIGHT AND WATERPROOF: Designed to stay small and light on the collar, with a waterproof build made for cats that go where they please, indoors and out.
- Measure the strap at the exact point where the Fi Mini case will sit.
- Check that the strap is thick and rigid enough for the attachment case to hold securely.
- Inspect the case and strap after running, climbing or rough play; an attached tracker is only useful if it stays on the pet.
- For cats, use collar hardware designed for cats, including a properly functioning breakaway mechanism. Do not sacrifice safe release behavior to make a tracker fit.
Is it suitable for cats, puppies and small dogs?
Fi markets Mini to small dogs and puppies and separately maintains support information for “Fi Mini for Cats.” Its launch announcement presents the product as bringing GPS tracking to cats. That establishes Fi’s intended use, not a guarantee that every cat, kitten or small dog will tolerate the device or fit every compatible collar.
For cats
Prioritize low weight, a secure but safe breakaway collar and a gradual introduction. Confirm that the tracker does not interfere with normal grooming, jumping or escape release.
For puppies and small dogs
Recheck fit as the animal grows. A collar that meets the width requirement today may become too tight, too loose or unsuitable for the attachment case later.
How GPS, LTE-M and alerts work
Fi Mini sends location information over cellular connectivity, allowing the app to provide live tracking and escape or safe-zone alerts away from your home Wi-Fi. Geofencing can notify you when a pet leaves a defined area, while location history helps show where the tracker has been.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Cellular trackers cannot report normally where the underlying network is unavailable. Remote areas, underground locations, dense buildings and other places with weak cellular service can delay or prevent updates. Associated Press reporting on pet trackers highlights this limitation, including remote locations such as the middle of a national park. Check Verizon LTE-M coverage along your pet’s routine routes rather than assuming nationwide reliability.
Fi Mini requires an ongoing plan
Fi states that every product requires a GPS/LTE plan selected during activation. The hardware price is therefore not the complete ownership cost. The exact plan price and available terms can change, so check the activation screen or Fi’s current sales page before ordering.
Fi’s product page displayed $69.30 against a $99 reference price when retrieved on September 27, 2026. Treat that as a time-limited price snapshot, not a guaranteed current price. Plan rates were not stated in the available product information.
Battery and what comes in the box
Fi lists a five-pack of silicone cases and a USB-C charging cable in the box. The company claims up to six weeks of battery life, or up to two months with the Fi Base. Those are Fi specifications, not independently tested results; actual runtime will vary with tracking frequency, cellular conditions, activity and temperature.

A practical charging routine
- Set a recurring reminder rather than waiting for a low-battery alert.
- Charge before travel, boarding, hiking or any period when recovery would be difficult.
- Check the app after charging to confirm the tracker has reconnected and is reporting a current location.
What to check before purchase
| Question | What is established | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Will it attach? | Fi specifies 3/8-inch to 1-inch collar or harness width. | Measure your pet’s actual strap; incompatible width prevents secure mounting. |
| Is my pet in the intended size range? | Fi emphasizes small dogs and puppies and provides cat-specific support. | Fit and comfort still need to be checked for the individual animal. |
| Will tracking work on our routes? | Fi Mini uses Verizon LTE-M. | Cellular gaps can stop or delay location updates. |
| What will ownership cost? | An active Fi GPS/LTE plan is required; current plan rates were not stated. | Include recurring service in your budget, not just the device price. |
| How often will I charge it? | Fi claims up to six weeks, or up to two months with Fi Base. | Real-world runtime varies, so maintain a charging routine. |
Fi Mini compared with any cellular pet tracker
Use the same checks when evaluating alternatives: minimum pet and strap size, cellular network coverage in the places your pet visits, required subscription and total recurring cost, battery claims and charging accessories, and the quality of escape alerts and location history. A lower hardware price does not necessarily mean lower ownership cost if the service plan is more expensive.
Bottom line for buyers
Fi Mini is a sensible option if you want GPS tracking without replacing a compatible collar or harness and your pet is a small dog, puppy or cat that can safely wear the setup. Confirm the 3/8-inch-to-1-inch fit, Verizon LTE-M coverage and the required Fi plan first. Buy based on the complete service cost and safe fit, not the promotional hardware price alone.
