The rebrand changed the name and visual identity, not the service’s basic purpose: helping people find electronic components and compare price and availability information from authorized distributor sources. ECIA said existing accounts and tools would continue to work and old bookmarks would redirect.
What TrustedParts.com does
TrustedParts.com is an electronic-component sourcing and discovery service created by the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA). It brings together price and availability information reported by participating distributors so purchasing professionals, design engineers and other users can search for components and find potential sources.
The site is not a component manufacturer or retailer. ECIA says it works to verify that the displayed distributor information relates to products those distributors are authorized to sell. The distinction matters when comparing sources: inventory outside a manufacturer-authorized channel may carry different authenticity and supply-chain risks. ECIA describes authorized sourcing as a safeguard against unknowingly introducing counterfeit products; that is a risk-reduction claim, not a guarantee that all sourcing risk disappears.
Why ECIA changed the name
ECIA said “ECIAauthorized.com” could give the impression that participation was limited to distributors belonging to ECIA. The TrustedParts name was intended to establish a distinct global brand and make the service’s focus on genuine components from authorized sources clearer. ECIA also said the new identity supported broader participation.

In the May 18, 2020 announcement, ECIA Senior Vice President Victor Meijers said, “We’ve changed the name to reflect the primary value we bring to the marketplace: we only list genuine components from authorized sources.” This is ECIA’s description of the service, rather than an independent audit of every listing.
What changed for existing users
According to ECIA’s 2020 announcement, users did not need to take action: existing accounts and tools would continue to work, and bookmarks to the old site would redirect to TrustedParts.com. The change was presented as a new name, logo and look while retaining the service’s functionality.

How the service developed
- 2010: The official About page says the service launched in the Americas as ECIAauthorized.com, created by ECIA with a core group of distributor members.
- 2016: The service expanded globally, including local languages and currencies in key markets, according to the same About page.
- May 18, 2020: ECIA announced the TrustedParts.com rebrand.
- 2025: ECIA’s annual report described changes to parametric search and search results, a revised user experience, analytics for manufacturer members, and Instant Component Carbon Data powered by Sluicebox.
- June 11, 2026: ECIA’s press-release archive listed an Inventory AI Agent Service announcement, describing access to real-time authorized inventory data through AI platforms.
The 2025 and 2026 developments are later platform updates; they were not part of the original 2020 rebrand.
How to evaluate listings when sourcing parts
TrustedParts.com is intended to help users discover distributor inventory, but a search result is a starting point for a sourcing decision. Check the participating distributor’s own listing and terms for the details relevant to your order.

- Authorization: Confirm that the seller is authorized by the component manufacturer for the product and region you need.
- Availability and price: Treat displayed figures as distributor-reported information and verify current stock, pricing and delivery details with the seller before committing.
- Geography and localization: The service’s historical international expansion included local languages and currencies in key markets; confirm that the information shown suits your location and transaction.
- Authenticity and warranty: Authorized-channel purchasing can help reduce counterfeit exposure, as ECIA’s CEO stated, but it should not be interpreted as a universal guarantee or a substitute for confirming the distributor’s terms.
ECIA says the service is free to users and that ECIA membership is not required to participate. Distributor participation has separate requirements and integrations, as described in ECIA’s distributor documentation.

ECIA’s May 18, 2020 launch announcement reported coverage of more than 4,000 component manufacturers and over 24 million part numbers. Those are historical launch figures, not verified present-day totals. The later ECIA materials cited above describe product updates but do not establish a newer total.
