Vanta’s Trust Center and Questionnaire Automation are designed to help enterprise teams respond to recurring customer security questions and share security information. Announced on May 1, 2024, the tools draft answers from an organization’s existing questionnaires and security documentation; they do not create evidence or prove compliance on their own. Human review and a current, sufficiently complete knowledge base remain essential.
What Vanta announced in May 2024
Vanta’s May 1, 2024 announcement introduced two related capabilities for its Trust Center: a conversational AI experience for visitors and Questionnaire Automation for security teams. At launch, Vanta said the conversation feature was in preview, while Questionnaire Automation was expected to reach general availability in the following weeks. Those were launch-time statuses; current product and Help Center materials describe Questionnaire Automation as a product, with some features potentially requiring an upgrade or add-on.
How the Trust Center conversation feature works
In the 2024 announcement, Vanta described a conversational interface where Trust Center visitors could ask questions such as “How does your company handle encryption?” or when the organization last completed a SOC 2 report and whether it had exceptions. Vanta AI generated responses from the Trust Center resources available to that visitor, and Vanta said it showed which resources informed an answer. Administrators could review incoming questions and themes, and could enable or disable the AI feature.
Vanta also said in that launch post that it did not train models on customer data. That is the vendor’s statement from May 2024, not an independent audit finding. Buyers should assess the current product’s access controls, information visibility, and data-handling terms for their own requirements.

How Questionnaire Automation drafts answers
Questionnaire Automation is aimed at the repeated forms, spreadsheets, and portal questionnaires organizations receive during customer security reviews. Vanta’s launch description said it could use previously submitted questionnaires and security documentation to build a knowledge base, incorporate Vanta policies, and suggest responses for the security team to review and approve. Current product materials continue to describe multi-format workflows, collaboration, and approval.
The important distinction is that the system drafts from material the organization has supplied. If a question is not covered by the knowledge base, the tool cannot supply reliable organization-specific evidence merely by generating plausible text. Vanta’s Help Center guidance says teams should keep the answer library and resources current, review answers, and mark a questionnaire complete only when it is ready to send.
Typical setup and review workflow
- Import earlier security questionnaires to seed the answer library.
- Upload relevant security documentation and policies so suggested answers can draw on current source material.
- Use coverage insights to identify questions with missing answers or possible conflicts in the source material.
- Review and approve each suggested response, resolve gaps, and complete the questionnaire only when the team is ready to submit it.
These steps reflect Vanta Help Center guidance dated June 11, 2026. The precise interface and available features can depend on the organization’s plan.
What the published performance figures do—and do not—show
| Figure | Source and qualification |
|---|---|
| “81% faster completion of security reviews” | Vanta’s current product page attributes this to an IDC white paper from January 2025. The white paper was sponsored by Vanta, so the figure should be read in that context rather than as an independent, universal result. |
| “80%” of security questions answered on average | Vanta’s product page, observed September 27, 2026. Vanta qualifies results as varying with the information in the knowledge base; this is a vendor-reported figure, not a universal benchmark. |
| “95%” acceptance of AI-generated answers | Vanta’s product page, observed September 27, 2026. This is also a vendor-reported result, with outcomes dependent on knowledge-base information. |
| “5x faster” questionnaire completion | A Noibu customer example stated in Vanta’s May 1, 2024 launch post. It describes that customer’s reported experience, not an estimate for all organizations. |
Vanta’s announcement also quoted Leah Bosé, identified as ZoomInfo’s Senior Privacy Compliance Manager, saying that a Salesforce integration let the company see how many dollars in revenue were directly touching its Trust Center. That statement concerns measuring revenue influenced through Trust Center interactions; it does not establish that questionnaire automation caused the revenue.

What enterprises should evaluate before adopting it
Automation can reduce repeated drafting, but it does not replace compliance ownership, evidence collection, or approval. A useful evaluation should test the workflow against the organization’s actual questionnaires and governance needs.
- Coverage and accuracy: Are prior answers, policies, and source documents broad and current enough to cover likely questions? How are gaps and conflicting answers surfaced?
- Traceability: Can reviewers see which documentation supports each answer, and can they verify that the cited resource is appropriate?
- Access and visibility: Which Trust Center resources can a particular customer see, and how are customer-specific or sensitive details protected?
- Human approval: Can the organization assign answer owners, require review, and prevent unapproved responses from being sent?
- Formats and workflow: Does the product handle the forms, spreadsheets, and third-party portals the team actually receives, and does collaboration fit existing processes?
- Integrations and deployment: Confirm required CRM or workflow integrations, plan eligibility, add-on requirements, and regional or language needs directly with Vanta.
- Performance claims: Ask how a vendor defines completion time, answer acceptance, and coverage, and whether reported outcomes apply to organizations with a knowledge base like yours.
Vanta’s current product page describes Questionnaire Automation as available on a standalone basis or as an add-on to an existing Vanta plan; its Help Center notes that some capabilities may require an upgrade or add-on. Availability and packaging can vary, so confirm the current terms for your organization rather than assuming every feature is included.
