AMD Ryzen AI PRO is a business-PC processor platform, not a Windows 11 feature switch. It combines x86 CPU cores, Radeon graphics, an XDNA 2 neural processing unit (NPU) and AMD PRO security and manageability technologies. AMD says Ryzen AI PRO 300 mobile chips can support eligible Copilot+ PC experiences, while the Ryzen AI PRO 400 family adds desktop processors in 2026. The actual experience depends on the complete OEM computer, Windows edition and updates, firmware, software, licensing and regional rollout.
What AMD Ryzen AI PRO adds to a Windows 11 business PC
Ryzen AI PRO processors are designed for commercial laptops and desktops. The CPU handles conventional Windows and business applications, Radeon graphics accelerates display and GPU workloads, and the XDNA 2 NPU is intended for local AI tasks that can benefit from dedicated, power-efficient inference.
“PRO” also describes platform capabilities for enterprise deployment. AMD promotes hardware security, firmware support and manageability features alongside the processor. Those capabilities still require an OEM system implementation and an organization’s policies; installing a PRO-branded chip does not automatically configure encryption, identity, fleet management or compliance controls.
Ryzen AI PRO 300 mobile families
AMD’s January 6, 2025 announcement listed the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350 and Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 as business-focused Ryzen AI 300 models. AMD’s October 2024 launch materials also listed higher-tier Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO and Ryzen AI 7 PRO parts.

Does Ryzen AI PRO qualify a PC for Copilot+?
AMD’s October 2024 launch notes cite Microsoft’s 40-TOPS minimum processor requirement for Copilot+ PC eligibility. The listed Ryzen AI PRO 300 models meet or exceed that threshold on their peak NPU specifications: the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350 and Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 are rated at 50 NPU TOPS, while the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 is rated up to 55 NPU TOPS.
That number alone does not make every Ryzen AI PRO computer a Copilot+ PC. Microsoft and the OEM must support the complete system, including firmware, memory, cameras and other platform requirements, and Microsoft controls feature rollout. Windows edition, updates, language and region can affect availability. Some experiences may require a subscription or volume license, and AMD says timing can vary by device and region.

These are AMD’s platform claims, not proof that a particular organization’s security baseline is active. Verify the OEM’s firmware options, Windows edition, identity provider, endpoint-management stack and BIOS policy. A PRO processor cannot compensate for weak enrollment, unpatched software or misconfigured keys.
How much faster are Ryzen AI PRO business laptops?
AMD reported the following comparisons in its October 2024 launch material. They are vendor-reported results, not independent laboratory findings, and AMD used specific laptops, power settings, workloads and test dates.

Processors are sold inside complete OEM systems, so compare the computer rather than the chip name alone. AMD’s named examples include:
- HP EliteBook X G1a: AMD identifies a configuration using Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375.
- Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6: AMD identifies a configuration using Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360.
Exact screens, memory, storage, wireless radios, batteries, operating-system editions and power limits vary by SKU and seller. A listing that says “Ryzen AI PRO” is not enough to establish Copilot+ eligibility or a particular security configuration. Confirm the full model number, NPU rating, Windows edition, BIOS features, warranty and regional availability.
How to choose a Ryzen AI PRO Windows 11 PC
- Define the workload. For office, browser and line-of-business applications, prioritize CPU tier, memory and support lifecycle. For local AI features, confirm the NPU rating and that the applications you use support it.
- Check Copilot+ requirements. Verify the complete OEM specification and Microsoft’s current requirements; do not rely only on a 40-TOPS or 50-TOPS figure.
- Match the form factor. Mobile systems favor portability and battery life. Desktop Ryzen AI PRO 400 systems can offer more cooling capacity and upgradeable AM5 memory, subject to the chosen motherboard and chassis.
- Validate manageability. Ask whether the firmware supports your organization’s provisioning, remote-management, secure-boot and recovery procedures.
- Review Windows and licensing. Confirm edition, update servicing, language and region. Establish whether a desired AI feature requires a subscription, volume license or a later update.
- Compare like-for-like systems. Use the same memory, storage, display resolution, power mode and software versions when evaluating competing PCs.
What Ryzen AI PRO does—and does not—guarantee
- It identifies a business-oriented AMD platform combining CPU, Radeon graphics, NPU acceleration and PRO technologies.
- It can provide the processor-side NPU capability cited for Copilot+ eligibility on supported systems.
- It does not guarantee that every Windows 11 AI feature is installed, available in every region or included without additional licensing.
- It does not by itself set an organization’s encryption, identity, endpoint-management or compliance policies.
- It does not make two laptops equivalent when their thermals, memory, firmware and Windows configurations differ.
The Bottom Line
Ryzen AI PRO is a credible foundation for Windows 11 business PCs that need local AI acceleration and enterprise-oriented security features. Choose on the complete OEM configuration and deployment support—not on the PRO label or a peak TOPS number alone.
