Windows 11 build 26100.3613 (KB5053656) entered the Release Preview Channel on March 18, 2025, for version 24H2 Insiders. Its release notes proposed more consistent CPU-utilization figures in Task Manager, but Microsoft amended the announcement on April 2 to say that change would roll out later. It should not be described as a feature delivered by this build.
What build 26100.3613 was
Microsoft released build 26100.3613 as KB5053656 for Windows 11 version 24H2 devices enrolled in the Release Preview Channel. The announcement separated changes into gradual-rollout items and normal-rollout items. Gradual rollout meant that availability could vary among eligible Insiders rather than appearing for everyone immediately.
This is historical preview coverage, not a recommendation to install the build today. Microsoft’s subsequent Release Preview announcement listed build 26100.3624 on March 24, 2025.
What Microsoft proposed for Task Manager
The original notes described a CPU-metric redesign for three Task Manager views:
#1 Best Overall
- 1.1 GHz (boost up to 2.4GHz) Intel Celeron N5030 Quad-Core
| Task Manager view | Proposed behavior |
|---|---|
| Processes | Use the standard CPU-utilization metric consistently. |
| Performance | Use the same standard workload calculation. |
| Users | Use the same standard workload calculation. |
| Details | Offer an optional CPU Utility column that preserves the earlier Processes-page value for compatibility. |
The intent was to make figures easier to compare across the Processes, Performance, and Users pages without removing access to the older Processes-page number. That description was a proposal, not evidence that the redesign shipped in 26100.3613.
The Task Manager change was deferred
On April 2, 2025, Microsoft struck through the published Task Manager text and added: “This change will roll out at a later date.” That amendment controls the release’s status. Build 26100.3613 therefore did not deliver the advertised CPU-metric overhaul, and the headline claim that its updated Task Manager “actually makes sense” is too strong.

Other changes in the 26100.3613 announcement
Gradual-rollout features
- Additional live-caption capabilities.
- Specification cards in Settings.
- A gamepad layout for the touch keyboard.
- Voice Access changes.
- Lock-screen widgets for users in the European Economic Area.
- Other fixes whose availability could vary during the staged rollout.
Normal-rollout fixes
- HDR playback issues on displays that support Dolby Vision.
- PowerShell behavior under Windows Defender Application Control policies.
- Out-of-box experience (OOBE) issues.
- Credential-roaming problems.
- Redirected profiles stored on VHD or VHDX files.
- Graphics-settings issues.
These items were part of the same preview announcement; the deferred CPU-metric work was not the only change associated with the build.
How to interpret the release today
- Identify the build correctly: 26100.3613 is KB5053656, a Windows 11 24H2 Release Preview build announced March 18, 2025.
- Separate proposal from shipment: the standardized CPU figures and optional CPU Utility column were described, then explicitly postponed.
- Use the archive chronology: build 26100.3624 followed in the archive on March 24, 2025, so 26100.3613 is an earlier preview-flight report rather than current installation guidance.
The Bottom Line
Build 26100.3613 previewed a potentially clearer Task Manager CPU model, but Microsoft later said that change would arrive in a later rollout. Credit the build for the proposal—not for shipping an updated Task Manager.
