It cannot be confirmed from “RX 580” alone. RX 580 cards come in different lengths, heights and thicknesses, so you need the exact graphics-card model and your case’s available GPU clearance before you can say whether it will fit without problems.
Why the RX 580 name is not enough
“Radeon RX 580” identifies a GPU family, not one standard-size board. For example, MSI lists these two RX 580 cards at substantially different sizes:
| Card | Length | Height | Thickness |
|---|---|---|---|
| MSI Radeon RX 580 GAMING 8G | 276 mm | 140 mm | 42 mm |
| MSI Radeon RX 580 8G | 243 mm | 111 mm | 40 mm |
A case that accepts a 243 mm card may not have room for a 276 mm version. Cooler shrouds, backplates and slot thickness also affect clearance.
How to verify the exact graphics-card size
- Identify the manufacturer and full model. Read the sticker on the card or identify it through its hardware ID. AMD explains the process in How To Identify the Manufacturer and Model of an AMD Graphics Card.
- Open the manufacturer’s specification page. Record the card’s length, height and thickness or slot count. Do not substitute dimensions from another RX 580 variant.
- Include attached hardware. Measure the complete card, including its cooler and backplate, rather than only the circuit board.
Compare the card with your case
Find the case manufacturer’s maximum GPU length, usually listed in millimetres. Compare that figure with the exact card length, then inspect the installation path:
#1 Best Overall
- Comes with 4x pre-installed PWM-controlled 120mm ARGB fans, ensuring adaptable airflow and vibrant lighting with daisy-chain connectivity for easy setup.
- Integrated 26-LED ARGB strip offers full spectrum color control and synchronization with motherboard software, enhancing both visibility and aesthetics.
- Supports ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX, and back-connect ATX or Micro-ATX motherboards for cleaner routing and flexible builds
- Each side panel features a tool-less mounting mechanism for easy and fast access to internal components, streamlining your build process.
- Fits high-end hardware with support for GPUs up to 420mm, CPU coolers up to 178mm, and a top radiator up to 360mm
- Remove or account for front drive cages, radiator assemblies and front fans that reduce usable length.
- Check the case’s GPU height allowance against the card’s height, especially if the side panel is close to the PCIe area.
- Check the card’s slot thickness. A two-and-a-half- or three-slot cooler can cover neighbouring expansion slots even when its length fits.
- Confirm that the motherboard’s primary PCIe x16 slot is positioned where the case opening and support brackets line up.
If you cannot find a published clearance figure, measure the unobstructed space from the rear expansion-slot opening to the nearest obstruction and compare it with the card’s complete dimensions. Without both the exact card model and the case clearance, physical compatibility remains unresolved.
Check power separately from physical clearance
A card can fit mechanically and still fail to operate if the power supply is unsuitable. AMD lists 185 W typical desktop board power for the RX 580 on its Radeon RX 580 support page.

- Ample Interior: Explore ample interior space for Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX motherboards, ensuring easy and future expansion
- Components Clearance: Accommodates CPU coolers with a max height of 159mm, GPU cards up to 360mm, and PSU up to 160mm in length.
- Versatile Cooling: Maximize cooling performance with a 240mm liquid cooler and 5 fans.
- Modular I/O Panel: You have the flexibility to adjust its position at the front, top, or bottom on both sides
- Edge-To-Edge Panel: Show off your meticulous build through the transparent side panel with pride.
Power requirements vary by board design. The MSI RX 580 8G specifications cited above list one 8-pin power connector and a 500 W recommended power supply for those models. Verify the connector and PSU recommendation for your exact card, and make sure your PSU has the required native PCIe cable. Do not rely on the RX 580 family name to determine either requirement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Information needed for a definite yes or no
- The graphics card’s manufacturer and complete model number.
- Its published length, height and thickness or slot count.
- Your case model, or measured GPU clearance after accounting for cages, fans and radiators.
- The card’s PCIe power connector and the PSU’s capacity and available connector.
Provide those details and the fit can be checked directly. A generic “RX 580” listing or a case description without a clearance measurement is not enough to guarantee a problem-free installation.
