TU102-300A-K1-A1 is a chip marking associated with NVIDIA’s TU102 GPU family, which powers the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. MSI identifies the GPU core in its RTX 2080 Ti GAMING TRIO as TU102-300A. However, NVIDIA and MSI’s cited documentation does not explain every part of the longer marking, so the meaning of “K1-A1” should not be inferred from the code alone.
What TU102-300A tells you
NVIDIA describes TU102 as its flagship Turing GPU and says it is used in the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and Quadro RTX 6000. MSI’s specification for its GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING TRIO names the core as TU102-300A. That verifies the association for this particular board model; it does not prove that every RTX 2080 Ti board has identical components.

The available official documentation does not decode the complete TU102-300A-K1-A1 marking. In particular, it does not establish what “K1-A1” means. Avoid treating those characters as proof of a specific chip revision, bin, overclocking guarantee, or interchangeability with another GPU.
TU102 architecture figures versus the RTX 2080 Ti
NVIDIA’s 2018 Turing article gives specifications for the full TU102 implementation, which should not be confused with the resources enabled in a specific retail product. The figures below describe the full implementation, not a verified count for every RTX 2080 Ti chip or board.

For the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition specifically, NVIDIA published peak FP32 performance of 14.2 TFLOPS and ray-tracing performance of 10 Giga Rays/sec. These are NVIDIA’s published specifications, not independent test results or guarantees for every board-partner model. See NVIDIA’s Turing architecture article for the original context.
Why the exact card model matters
An RTX 2080 Ti is a graphics-card product, not just a bare GPU chip. Board design and components vary by manufacturer; NVIDIA’s supported GPU documentation lists two RTX 2080 Ti PCI IDs and notes that hardware designs differ among manufacturers. For replacement, compatibility, or repair, use the exact card model and its documentation rather than relying only on a chip marking.
Rank #2
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB
- NVIDIA CUDA Cores 4352, Clock speeds of 1350 MHz core and 1545 MHz boost
- 24/7 U.S. Based Technical Support
- Blower Edition
- NVIDIA Turing Architecture, combined with the all-new GeForce RTX platform, fuses together real-time ray tracing, artificial intelligence, and programmable shading.
- Check the complete manufacturer and model name, not just “RTX 2080 Ti.”
- For a replacement card, compare physical size, cooler design, and required power connections against your case and power supply.
- For used hardware, verify condition and the seller’s return and warranty terms directly in the listing.
Buying a chip or a complete graphics card
If you need an RTX 2080 Ti for a computer, a complete graphics card is the more relevant product to search for: it includes the board and cooling hardware needed to install the GPU. NVIDIA’s RTX 2080 Ti product page describes the card as a graphics product, while MSI’s model specification provides an example of a board built around a TU102-300A core.
A listing for a standalone chip needs separate verification of its marking, provenance, compatibility, and seller support. The cited documentation does not establish that a bare TU102-300A-K1-A1 chip is available from a reputable seller, has been tested, or can be installed as a compatible replacement. Do not assume that matching the marking alone makes a chip suitable for a particular card.
