The Corsair K70 PRO TKL is a wired tenkeyless gaming keyboard built around Corsair’s MGX Hyperdrive magnetic switches and Hall-effect sensing. It lets you set actuation per key, use Rapid Trigger for quicker reset behavior, and enable FlashTap SOCD handling for opposing movement keys. Corsair announced it on October 31, 2024; the current US white-page snapshot listed it at $169.99 and in stock on September 27, 2026, but price and availability can change.

What the K70 PRO TKL is

The K70 PRO TKL removes the number pad while retaining the navigation cluster and function row. Corsair specifies an 87-key matrix, full-key rollover, wired USB Type-A connectivity, AXON processing, and polling of up to 8,000Hz. It is not a wireless keyboard.

Corsair’s launch announcement describes MGX Hyperdrive switches that use Hall-effect sensors. The product page also references MGX V2 and internal MGX Hyperdrive and MLX Plasma components, so switch type and keycap details should be checked against the exact regional SKU rather than assumed from the K70 PRO TKL name alone.

Corsair President and COO Thi La said in the launch announcement: “The K70 PRO TKL combines proprietary hardware with powerful iCUE software, which serves as the nucleus for all our products.” The statement describes Corsair’s hardware-and-software approach; it is not an independent performance test.

How the magnetic actuation system works

Adjustable actuation point

Corsair says each key’s actuation distance can be set in 0.1mm increments from 0.1mm to 4mm on its current US product page. A shallow setting makes a key trigger with less travel; a deeper setting requires more deliberate movement and can help reduce accidental presses.

The same US page recommends 0.3mm to 3.6mm for optimal accuracy and warns that settings outside that range may increase sensitivity and affect consistency. Corsair’s 2024 launch announcement instead gives a recommended range of 0.4mm to 3.6mm. Treat those as version-specific recommendations, not a single reconciled number.

Is it a Hall-effect keyboard?

Yes, Corsair markets the K70 PRO TKL’s MGX Hyperdrive system as magnetic and Hall-effect based. Hall sensors detect changes in a switch’s magnetic field instead of relying only on a conventional electrical contact. That sensing method enables software-adjustable trigger points and reset behavior, but Corsair’s specifications do not independently establish a particular latency, typing feel, or esports advantage.

Dual actuation

Dual actuation assigns two actions to one keypress. Corsair’s example is triggering two spells with one stroke. It is a programmable option in iCUE, and whether it is useful depends on a game’s input rules and your chosen bindings.

What Rapid Trigger changes

Rapid Trigger changes how a key resets between consecutive presses. Rather than waiting for a fixed physical reset point, Corsair describes the feature as allowing activation and reset with very small changes in key travel. That can make repeated taps or movement corrections feel more immediate when configured appropriately.

Rapid Trigger is a behavior setting, not a measured speed guarantee. The supplied Corsair materials contain no independent latency or competitive-outcome testing, so the 8,000Hz polling figure and Rapid Trigger description should not be read as proof that this keyboard is faster than another model.

What FlashTap does

FlashTap is Corsair’s SOCD feature for opposing inputs such as A and D. It determines what happens when both directions are pressed at once. The available priorities are:

Mode Behavior for opposing inputs
First Prioritizes the key pressed first.
Last Prioritizes the most recently pressed key.
Neither Suppresses the opposing pair rather than choosing one.

On the product page, FlashTap is disabled by default, defaults to A and D with last-input priority when configured, and can be toggled with Fn + Right Shift. Corsair says current firmware is required through iCUE. Because SOCD rules can vary by game and tournament, check the relevant game or event policy before using it competitively.

What comes in the wired package

  • K70 PRO TKL keyboard with TKL layout and rotary dial.
  • Media and volume controls.
  • Detachable magnetic cushioned palm rest.
  • Braided detachable USB Type-C cable (the keyboard side; the regional specification lists USB Type-A host connectivity).
  • Onboard storage for eight megabytes and five onboard profiles, according to Corsair’s US specification page.

Corsair’s product page describes double-shot ABS keycaps and displays a PBT double-shot option. Confirm the material, language layout, color, and SKU for your region before buying; the white page’s technical specification identifies a specific North American SKU rather than every K70 PRO TKL variant.

Setup and software requirements

  1. Connect the keyboard to a compatible USB 3.0 or 3.1 Type-A port.
  2. Install Corsair iCUE on Windows 10 or macOS 10.15, using an internet connection to download the software. Corsair advises checking the current product page for updated operating-system support.
  3. Update the keyboard firmware in iCUE before enabling FlashTap.
  4. In iCUE, choose the key and set its actuation distance in 0.1mm steps. Start within Corsair’s currently recommended 0.3mm–3.6mm range, then adjust for your own control.
  5. Configure Rapid Trigger, dual actuation, profiles, lighting, and FlashTap behavior, and save frequently used configurations to the five onboard profiles.

Who should consider it

  • Choose it if you want a compact wired layout, per-key magnetic actuation settings, Rapid Trigger, configurable SOCD behavior, onboard profiles, and an included palm rest.
  • Check alternatives if you need wireless operation, a number pad, independently verified latency or durability results, or a layout and keycap material that differ from the available regional SKU.

Corsair lists a 150-million-press lifespan for MGX Hyperdrive switches. That is a manufacturer specification, not an independent durability test. Likewise, the 8,000Hz figure is a polling-rate specification rather than proof of a particular end-to-end response time.
