There is no official standalone “Magic Eraser APK” from the Pixel 6 Pro, and copying a Pixel Google Photos package does not universally unlock the feature on other Android phones. Magic Eraser is built into Google Photos. Pixel 6 Pro owners can use it through the supported app, while non-Pixel access depends on Google One eligibility, device hardware, Android version, account, region, image type and Google’s feature rollout.
The short answer
| Phone or situation | What to do | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 6 Pro | Install or update Google Photos from Google Play | Supported; use the built-in Magic Eraser editor |
| Other supported Pixel | Use the official Google Photos app | Google documents support for Pixel 4a and later |
| Non-Pixel Android with Google One | Install/update Google Photos and check the editor | May be available, but subscription alone is not a guarantee |
| Unsupported or older Android | Use available Google Photos tools or another editor | A Pixel APK is not a dependable unlock |
Google’s Pixel documentation lists Magic Eraser on Pixel 4a and later, which includes the Pixel 6 Pro: Google Pixel Camera help. Google announced on February 23, 2023 that Magic Eraser was being offered to Google One members on Android and iOS as well as Pixel users, but current access can still vary by device, account, region, image and rollout: Google’s announcement.
What “Magic Eraser APK” really means
Magic Eraser is a Google Photos feature
An APK is an Android installation package. The Google Photos APK installs the complete Photos app; Magic Eraser is an editor inside that app, not a separately documented Google package. A listing called “Magic Eraser APK,” “Pixel 6 Pro Magic Eraser APK” or “Magic Eraser mod” is therefore normally a third-party package or a repackaged Google Photos build, not an official standalone Google download.
Why a Pixel package is not a universal unlock
Google Photos can use app components, device capabilities, account entitlements and server-side controls. A copied package may fail because it is a split APK, use incompatible signing, lack an editor module, crash on a different CPU or Android release, show no Magic Eraser, or stop working after a Google-side change. It can also expose private photos or Google credentials if it has been modified.
#1 Best Overall
- Google Pixel 6 powered by Google’s first-generation Tensor processor, enabling advanced on-device AI features such as more natural voice typing, quick language translation, and improved image processing without relying heavily on cloud services.
Use Magic Eraser on a Pixel 6 Pro
- Open Google Photos and select a photo.
- Tap Edit.
- Tap Actions, then Magic Eraser. On some releases the path is Tools → Actions → Magic Eraser.
- Accept a suggested distraction, or brush/circle the object to remove.
- Use Camouflage when blending an object into its surroundings is better than deleting it.
- Tap Done, then choose Save as copy when you want to preserve the original.
Labels can differ by app version, account and rollout. The Pixel-specific workflow is documented at Google Pixel Camera help.
Install the legitimate Google Photos app
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Google Photos and verify that the developer is Google LLC.
- Tap Install or Update.
- Open Photos and sign in with the personal Google Account you intend to use.
- Open an ordinary local or backed-up photo and check Edit → Actions. If the menu differs, check Edit → Tools → Actions or Edit → Search and search for “Magic Eraser.”
Use the official Play listing: Google Photos on Google Play. Do not download an “unlocked” package from an APK site as a substitute for the Play Store.
Check a non-Pixel Android phone
Google’s general Photos guidance says most editing features require Android 8.0 or later and at least 3 GB of RAM; some tools require 4 GB or 6 GB, and certain features are unavailable on 32-bit devices. These are general editing requirements, not a guarantee that Magic Eraser will appear: Google Photos editing help.
Rank #2
- Network Support: Unlocked
- Update Google Photos through Google Play.
- Check Android version, available RAM and whether the device is 64-bit where required.
- Use a personal Google Account rather than assuming a school or Workspace account has the same entitlement.
- Keep more than 1 GB of free storage and connect to Wi-Fi; editing components may need to download inside the editor.
- Test a normal JPEG rather than an unusual format, video or unsupported image.
- Look under Actions, Tools and the editor’s search field.
- Close and reopen Photos, then reboot if a downloaded tool does not appear.
If Magic Eraser remains absent, the phone, account, region or rollout may not qualify. Repeatedly sideloading Pixel builds does not change those conditions.

Google’s February 23, 2023 announcement made Magic Eraser available to Google One members on Android and iOS, while Pixel users were included without that announcement’s Google One requirement. On a non-Pixel phone, Google One can be the official route to enhanced Photos editing, but a subscription does not promise Magic Eraser on every model, country, account or app release. Current plans and prices are region- and date-sensitive; see Google One plans.
Buy Google One for storage and its broader benefits, not as a guaranteed method of forcing a Pixel-only feature onto incompatible hardware.

Why Magic Eraser may be missing
- The phone is not a supported Pixel and has no applicable Google One entitlement.
- Google has not completed the feature rollout for the account, region or device.
- Photos or Google Play Services is outdated.
- The editor module has not downloaded, or storage is too low.
- The device has low RAM, 32-bit hardware, an incompatible Android release, firmware or ROM.
- The account type, photo format or image condition is unsupported.
- The tool moved in the redesigned editor.
- A mismatched or modified APK installed incorrectly.
- A temporary Photos or server-side failure is affecting processing.
User reports document missing and non-working Magic Eraser cases, but support-thread reports are not a universal compatibility rule: missing-tool reports and processing-failure reports.
When the editor layout has changed
Google’s 2026 Android editor update moved tools such as Move, Erase and Reimagine away from some direct gestures. Depending on the rollout, try these paths:
- Newer layout: Photo → Edit → Actions → Magic Eraser
- Nested layout: Photo → Edit → Tools → Actions → Magic Eraser
- Search layout: Photo → Edit → Search → type Magic Eraser
Update Photos before assuming the feature has disappeared. See Google’s navigation announcement: Android editor selection update.

Fix failures, stuck processing or save errors
- Keep the original photo and try Save as copy.
- Test another ordinary JPEG.
- Update Google Photos and Google Play Services.
- Confirm free storage and a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Force-stop Photos, reopen it and reboot the phone.
- Clear the app cache only, then retry.
- If the problem continues, send feedback from Google Photos.
Avoid clearing Photos storage or app data casually. A Google Photos support response warns that stored app data can affect content such as Locked Folder and that recovery may not be possible: support discussion about clearing data. Back up important content and understand the consequences before using that option.
Why unofficial APK sites are a poor solution
- The package may be modified, malicious or falsely labeled.
- Fake “Pro” builds can steal credentials or install adware.
- Split-APK architecture and signatures can cause installation or update failures.
- There is no assurance that the claimed Pixel build is genuine or complete.
- Compatibility can break after an Android, Photos or server update.
- An unknown editor may process or upload sensitive photos without clear privacy controls.
Manual APK installation is reasonable only for advanced users who can verify provenance, signature, architecture and integrity. It is not a supported way to obtain Magic Eraser.
Safer alternatives when Magic Eraser is unavailable
| Option | Best for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Google Photos built-in tools | Crop, adjustments, markup, blur and other device-dependent edits | Availability varies by device and account |
| Snapseed | Free manual healing and retouching | Not an automatic Magic Eraser replacement |
| TouchRetouch | Dedicated unwanted-object removal | Usually paid; check your regional store |
| Adobe Photoshop Express | Broader corrections, filters and retouching | Features and plan limits vary by platform and account |
These apps differ in privacy practices, processing methods, supported formats and output quality. Choose a reputable official distribution page, especially for private images.

Pixel 6 Pro owners do not need an APK extraction: update Google Photos and use its built-in editor. On other Android phones, install Google Photos from Google Play and check eligibility, menus, storage and downloadable tools. Google One may provide an official non-Pixel route, but it is not a universal guarantee. If Magic Eraser is unavailable, use a reputable alternative rather than a modified “Pixel 6 Pro Magic Eraser APK.”
