LineageOS 22.2 is the best overall custom ROM for the Xiaomi POCO F1 (codename beryllium) in 2026. It has official device support, named maintainers, current installation and upgrade documentation, and a defined firmware requirement. Choose a current crDroid or Evolution X build only when its beryllium maintainer provides matching, up-to-date instructions. PixelOS remains downloadable but is discontinued for this device.
Quick comparison
| ROM | Android base and status | Best for | Google Apps | Main qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LineageOS 22.2 | Android 15; officially supported | Stability, documentation, privacy and a clean system | Optional; install a compatible arm64 package separately | Less built-in customization; device-integrity issues can affect apps |
| crDroid | Current beryllium build must be verified | Extensive interface and system customization | Build-dependent | Confirm maintainer, release date, Android base, firmware, recovery and bugs |
| Evolution X | Current community build must be verified | Pixel-style interface with additional controls | Build-dependent | Some releases are unofficial and use build-specific partitions and procedures |
| PixelOS | Android 15; discontinued, last listed update December 3, 2024 | Someone deliberately seeking an archived Pixel-style build | Build-dependent | Not an actively maintained 2026 recommendation |
| Android 16 community ROMs | Various projects and support levels | Experimenting with the newest Android APIs | Build-dependent | Unofficial or mixed-status releases can have compatibility and rollback risks |
Community channels can help locate current releases, but an aggregator listing is not proof of security, stability or official support. Verify the developer-maintained page before downloading: example listing and build-status discussion.
Why LineageOS 22.2 is the safest default
The POCO F1 is identified as beryllium. LineageOS documents the Snapdragon 845 phone’s 6/8 GB RAM variants, arm64 architecture, 64/128/256 GB storage, 4,000 mAh battery, dual-SIM support and 4G LTE on its device page. That codename matters: flashing files for another Xiaomi or POCO model can leave the phone unbootable or damage its partitions.
The official beryllium page lists LineageOS 22.2, based on Android 15, with maintainers, installation instructions and upgrade guidance. Those details are more useful than an Android-version number alone: an older officially supported release is generally a safer daily driver than a newer port with no recovery instructions, bug tracker or rollback path.

LineageOS is not a guarantee that every banking, payment, DRM or corporate-security app will work. Its beryllium documentation identifies device-integrity limitations, and app policies can change independently of the ROM.
Choose by your priority
Maximum customization
Start with a current crDroid build, or Evolution X if its active beryllium maintainer confirms support. These projects commonly expose more status-bar, lock-screen, gesture and system controls than LineageOS. Treat that as a direction, not a blanket endorsement: verify the exact build’s Android base, security patch, recovery, firmware, encryption behavior, OTA method and known bugs immediately before flashing. Community beryllium development is indicated in listings such as this update channel, but those listings may mix official and unofficial releases.
Pixel-style software
Evolution X may provide a maintained Pixel-oriented alternative when its current build is verified. PixelOS is not a current default: its official beryllium page marks the device discontinued and shows a last update of December 3, 2024.
Privacy and minimal Google services
Install LineageOS without Google Apps. This removes the Google framework and Play services, but some applications will lose push notifications, location features or compatibility. If you need Google services, install only the arm64 package specified by the ROM’s own documentation and install it before the first boot.

Gaming and battery life
No supplied evidence establishes a reliable FPS, temperature or battery-life winner. Results depend on kernel, thermals, firmware, game version, display settings and background services. Prefer a maintained ROM with a stable kernel and documented hardware support; do not select a build solely because it advertises Android 16.
Banking, payments and DRM
Use a stable, unrooted configuration and test your exact apps after installation, but expect no guarantee. Compatibility depends on bootloader state, root status, ROM signing, Play Integrity, Google certification, hardware-backed security and each app’s policy. If banking or corporate apps are essential, retain a stock-compatible phone.
Latest Android
Android 16 beryllium builds exist in community channels, including Evolution X, Infinity X, crDroid and Lunaris listings. They can offer newer APIs, but labels may be unofficial and posts warn against mixing Android or QPR generations. Verify every image, firmware package and recovery for the exact release before treating one as a daily driver. See the warning-oriented listing at this channel page and the broader hashtag feed at #Beryllium.

What to check before flashing
- Confirm the phone is a Xiaomi POCO F1 and every download identifies beryllium.
- Back up photos, downloads, messages, authenticator data and any files on internal storage.
- Install ADB and Fastboot, prepare a reliable cable, and preferably use a USB-A 2.0 port or hub.
- Remove Google accounts to reduce factory-reset-protection complications.
- Boot the stock system and test calls, SMS, Wi-Fi, LTE, camera, fingerprint and audio. Provision VoLTE or VoWiFi on stock firmware if your carrier requires it.
- Download the ROM, its specified recovery, firmware and (if needed) Google Apps before wiping.
- Record your current MIUI version and region. In MIUI strings,
MIdenotes Global; do not substitute firmware from another region.
Unlocking the bootloader erases the phone. Xiaomi’s Mi Unlock tool can also impose a wait of up to 30 days, depending on the message it displays. The current LineageOS instructions are the authority for these steps: installation guide.
LineageOS installation example
This is a LineageOS-specific path, not a universal recipe for crDroid, Evolution X or another ROM. Follow the exact instructions for your chosen build.
1. Match the required firmware
For the currently published LineageOS 22.2 beryllium instructions, use V12.0.3.0.QEJMIXM for POCO F1 Global or V12.0.3.0.QEJRUXM for POCO F1 Russia. These versions are not universal recommendations for other ROMs. The regional firmware procedure is documented at the firmware guide.
2. Unlock and enter Fastboot
After the Xiaomi unlock process and its required wipe, enable USB debugging and run:
adb -d reboot bootloader
Alternatively, power off and hold Volume Down + Power until FASTBOOT appears.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3. Confirm detection
fastboot devices
Do not flash if the command returns nothing. Install or repair Windows drivers, change the cable or port, and on Linux or macOS resolve the no permissions fastboot condition first.
4. Flash and immediately boot Lineage Recovery
Download the recovery image named by the LineageOS page, then run:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Hold Volume Up + Power to boot recovery immediately. Booting the existing system first can allow stock Android to overwrite the new recovery. LineageOS recommends its current Lineage Recovery; other recoveries may not install or update the ROM correctly.
5. Format encrypted data
- In recovery choose Factory Reset.
- Select Format data / factory reset and confirm.
- Return to the main menu.
This deletes internal storage and encryption data, which is why the backup is mandatory.

- Choose Apply update, then Apply from ADB.
- On the computer run:
adb -d sideload /path/to/lineageos.zip
ADB may appear to stop at 47% and report adb: failed to read command: Success even when the package completed successfully; follow the recovery’s final status.
7. Add Google Apps, if wanted
Before the first boot, sideload the arm64 package specified by the LineageOS documentation:
adb -d sideload /path/to/gapps.zip
Never assume that a package for another Android version or architecture is compatible.
8. Reboot
Select Reboot system now. LineageOS says the first boot usually takes no more than approximately 15 minutes, although timing varies.

Wrong firmware generation or region
Installation errors, crashes and modem failures can result. Re-read the ROM’s firmware guide and install the exact package for the model and region; for LineageOS, use the versions listed above rather than a generic Xiaomi firmware package.
Recovery disappeared
This usually means the phone booted normally after recovery flashing. Reflash the specified recovery and boot directly to it with Volume Up + Power.
Bootloop after a newer Android build
Likely causes include an incompatible recovery, firmware, boot, vendor, DTBO or VBMeta image, dirty-flashing across unsupported Android generations, or skipping format-data instructions. Return to the exact build guide, match every component, format data when required, and keep a known-good stock Fastboot package for rollback.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteNo calls, LTE or VoLTE
Verify those functions on stock firmware first and provision IMS services there if required by the carrier. A custom ROM cannot correct every regional or carrier provisioning issue.
ADB or Fastboot hangs
Try another cable, a USB-A 2.0 port or hub, and the correct operating-system drivers. The beryllium firmware documentation notes that some USB setups behave unreliably in bootloader mode.
Banking or streaming apps fail
Test the individual app rather than assuming a ROM-wide fix. Unlocked bootloaders, root, certification, Play Integrity and app-side policy can each affect the result. Avoid choosing a ROM because it promises to bypass those checks.
Verdict
Choose LineageOS 22.2 if you want the least risky current upgrade with official beryllium documentation, a clean system and a repeatable update path. Choose a current crDroid or Evolution X release only after verifying its active maintainer and complete build-specific instructions. Treat PixelOS as discontinued, and treat Android 16 community ROMs as experiments until their support, firmware and recovery requirements are clear. If your livelihood depends on banking or corporate apps, test first and keep a stock-compatible fallback.
