CCBill is the payment processor; the statement descriptor and amount alone do not identify the merchant or prove that you authorized the charge.
Start by checking the full transaction details, then use CCBill’s official consumer support and subscription lookup to identify or cancel it. If you do not recognize the purchase, contact your card issuer or bank promptly as well.
What does a CCBill.com charge mean?
CCBill processes payments for websites that sell subscriptions, memberships, digital content, and other online services. If your statement names CCBill, it generally indicates that a website using CCBill handled the payment—not necessarily that CCBill itself sold you the service. CCBill’s consumer support page explains that its statement reference can relate to a subscription, item, or service purchased from a website that uses its payment processing.
The merchant’s name may not match the brand you remember. CCBill’s consumer terms say the merchant is responsible for fulfillment and support of the product or service, so identifying that merchant matters if you need help with access or a refund. See CCBill’s consumer terms.

The $39.95 amount does not identify a particular website. It could be a renewal, a trial that converted to a paid plan, or another service. “Recurring” generally means the payment method was authorized for repeated billing until the subscription is canceled under its terms; check the actual schedule and cancellation conditions rather than assuming the charge is monthly or that every renewal has the same price.
Is the charge legitimate or unauthorized?
CCBill.com on a statement is a clue, not a diagnosis. A charge may be a subscription you knowingly started, a renewal you forgot, a trial conversion, a purchase made by another authorized user, or a transaction you did not authorize. Recurring billing can also be disputed if the terms were unclear or cancellation was not properly handled.
Before deciding, check whether the transaction is pending or posted. A pending authorization or temporary hold may not be a completed charge; ask your issuer how it is being handled and keep investigating. Do not infer authorization solely from the word “Recurring” or from the fact that a payment was processed.

How to identify the subscription
- Record the statement details. Note the date, exact descriptor, amount, pending or posted status, payment method’s last four digits, and any transaction or reference number.
- Search email and spam folders. Try “CCBill,” “CCBill.com,” “subscription,” “membership,” “receipt,” “trial,” and “39.95.” Check older email addresses too.
- Check accounts and household use. Look at account histories and password-manager entries for subscription sites, and ask other authorized users of the card whether they made the purchase.
- Use CCBill’s official lookup. Go to CCBill Consumer Support, select the purchase method when prompted, and provide two matching identifying details. The available details may include an email address, card or account information, transaction ID, or subscription ID.
Do not assume that a web search for “CCBill $39.95” will reveal the merchant. Several merchants can use the same processor and charge the same amount.
How to cancel a CCBill subscription
- Open CCBill’s consumer support page.
- Select the purchase method and enter two identifying details associated with the original transaction.
- Find the relevant subscription and follow the cancellation instructions.
- Save the confirmation, email, screenshot, or reference number.
- Check a later statement for any further billing.
CCBill lists phone support at 1-888-596-9279, email at consumersupport@ccbill.com, live chat, and online support forms on its consumer page. It describes consumer support as available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Use the contact details on the official page rather than a phone number in an unsolicited email, text, or third-party refund site.
If the search does not find the subscription, try another email address or payment detail used at signup, or enter a transaction or subscription ID if you have one. CCBill’s cancellation guidance notes that only subscriptions matching the information entered may appear. A failed lookup does not establish that a charge is fraudulent; ask CCBill or the issuer for help identifying it.

How to request a refund
Cancellation and a refund are separate requests: canceling generally addresses future renewals and does not automatically return money already charged. First identify the merchant and stop future billing. Then contact the merchant to request a refund; if necessary, contact CCBill through its official consumer support page for help locating the transaction.
Include the charge date and amount, transaction or subscription ID, email used at signup, reason for the request, and cancellation confirmation if relevant. Keep copies of messages and responses. Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances and applicable merchant policy; neither a recognized renewal nor a cancellation automatically guarantees a refund. CCBill’s terms place responsibility for product fulfillment and support with the merchant: CCBill consumer terms.
What to do if you never authorized the charge
- Contact CCBill through its official support page and ask it to identify the merchant and address any active subscription.
- Contact the merchant if identified, and keep records of your request and any cancellation.
- Notify your card issuer or bank promptly and ask how to dispute the transaction. Follow its procedure and deadlines.
- Review recent statements for related charges. If you suspect payment details or an account were compromised, ask the issuer whether to secure or replace the payment method, and change affected passwords.
- For suspected subscription fraud in the United States, you can report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
The FTC advises consumers to contact the company, document cancellation attempts, monitor statements, and dispute unauthorized charges or charges that continue after cancellation. Its guidance is for U.S. consumers: free trials, auto-renewals, and negative-option subscriptions.

Credit, debit, prepaid, and wallet payments
- Credit card: Ask the issuer about its billing-error or unauthorized-transaction process. The FTC’s credit-card dispute guidance explains general steps; use your issuer’s instructions and deadlines.
- Debit card: Contact the bank promptly because funds may have been withdrawn directly and procedures can differ.
- Prepaid card or digital wallet: Use the provider’s dispute process and contact the underlying card issuer when applicable.
Replacing a card is not always the first or only step. If you suspect theft, see multiple unknown charges, or your issuer recommends it, ask about replacement. Still document cancellation and pursue a dispute where appropriate; replacement alone may not end an account-level subscription or resolve a refund request.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If a charge appears after cancellation
Keep the cancellation confirmation and the later statement entry together. Contact the merchant and CCBill with the dates, amount, and reference details, then ask your issuer to dispute the post-cancellation charge if it is not resolved. If more unknown charges appear or compromise is suspected, ask the issuer about securing the payment method.
Canceling at a merchant and canceling through a processor can involve different account records, so confirm the subscription status through the channel used and retain proof. Do not rely on a card replacement alone as proof that the subscription was canceled.

If CCBill cannot find the transaction
- Try alternate email addresses and the card or account used at signup.
- Use any transaction or subscription ID shown on a receipt or statement.
- Ask CCBill through its official support page and ask your issuer for additional merchant or transaction details.
- If the charge remains unrecognized or unauthorized, report it to the issuer even if the lookup returns no result.
Never give a full card number, password, or security code to an unverified “refund” or recovery service. CCBill and your bank are safer starting points for transaction support than unsolicited contacts.
What to check if a trial became a subscription
Some trial and introductory offers automatically convert into paid plans unless canceled. The FTC describes this as negative-option billing and advises consumers to review the terms and cancellation method. Look for the trial length, date paid billing begins, renewal frequency, recurring price, cancellation method, refund terms, and whether cancellation ends access immediately. A trial conversion is not automatically unlawful; the relevant questions include whether recurring terms were disclosed, whether you agreed, and whether cancellation was workable. See the FTC’s subscription guidance.
