Illusto is no longer an active video editor. AppSumo announced that the VideoVerse product was discontinued on January 3, 2025, and its deal is sold out. Its old feature lists and lifetime-license terms describe a historical product, not a service you can safely choose for a new project.
Is Illusto still available?
No. AppSumo’s Illusto listing says the product was discontinued on January 3, 2025. The listing is sold out, and AppSumo’s published deadline for affected buyers to request a refund was January 30, 2025. That deadline has passed.
AppSumo community notices said the shutdown timetable was extended to 11:30 a.m. UTC on January 17, 2025, with premium-media access scheduled to end on December 26, 2024. Those dates matter to former users trying to understand why assets may have stopped working before the final shutdown; they do not indicate that the editor remains available. See the AppSumo shutdown notice.
The evidence establishes that Illusto was discontinued, but not whether every former customer account can still log in. Do not assume access, project recovery, or continued support. Avoid third-party offers for transferred lifetime licenses or claims of a working Illusto mirror.

What Illusto was
VideoVerse marketed Illusto as a browser-based, cloud video editor for creators, marketers, and businesses. In June 2023, VideoVerse announced an integration with iStock by Getty Images and Unsplash, positioning Illusto as a tool for creating content with stock media (VideoVerse announcement).
The historical AppSumo listing advertised a broad toolkit, including:

- Watermark-free and 4K exports, videos up to 180 minutes, and publishing to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, X, and LinkedIn.
These were product claims made while Illusto was operating; they should not be read as features currently accessible to users. The historical listing also advertised two AppSumo lifetime-license tiers. Tier 1 included 20 exports and 30 AI-generated images per month, 15 premium-media assets, and 20 GB of storage. Tier 2 included unlimited monthly exports, 180 AI-generated images per month, higher premium-media allowances, and more storage than Tier 1. The listing also specified a 60-day money-back guarantee and activation within 60 days. These were deal terms, not current purchase options (AppSumo listing).
What historical users liked
Some AppSumo buyers praised Illusto’s approachable interface, templates, stock media, voiceover tools, and ability to make simple social videos without a complex desktop editor. One purchaser review describes it as a useful, easy-to-use tool (AppSumo review). These impressions help explain the product’s appeal, but they are not evidence of current performance.

Trustpilot has 20 reviews and a 4.1 score, but reports no reviews in the previous 12 months. A later reviewer also complained that the platform appeared abandoned and stock media no longer worked. Treat these as historical, individual impressions rather than a representative measure of the service (Trustpilot profile).
What users reported as problems
AppSumo reviews also describe slow loading, freezes, editing work lost after reloads or logouts, sluggish stock assets, limited templates, awkward editing interactions, and little or no support. These are user reports, not a controlled reliability test, but they are relevant to how safe Illusto was for production work. See the AppSumo review describing reliability problems. A separate Trustpilot review from August 2024 reported that a lifetime-license holder could not get support.

- 【Ryzen 5 6600H for Demanding Daily Performance】AMD Ryzen 5 6600H processor features 6 cores, 12 threads, and boost speeds up to 4.5GHz, delivering stronger performance for office multitasking, coding, content handling, and sustained daily workloads. Compared with many common thin-and-light Intel Ryzen 5 7430U, Core i3-1315U, Core i5-1334U, AMD Ryzen 5 7520U, and Ryzen 7 5825U configurations, it is a better fit for users who need more performance headroom.
- 【Radeon 660M Graphics】AMD Radeon 660M integrated graphics with RDNA 2 architecture supports everyday visual work, smooth media playback, light photo editing, and casual gaming needs like LoL or CS2 at 1080p settings. It is a balanced fit for students, remote workers, and entry-level creators who want capable graphics without the extra heat and power draw of a dedicated GPU.
- 【16GB RAM & 512GB SSD with Upgrade Room】16GB DDR5 memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD deliver smooth out-of-the-box performance for multitasking, large file handling, and daily storage needs. With dual SO-DIMM slots and an M.2 2280 design, the system still leaves room to upgrade up to 64GB RAM and up to 4TB SSD as your needs continue to grow.
- 【2 Year Warranty Support】Includes a 2-year manufacturer warranty and a 90-day hassle-free return window, with final assembly in the United States and after-sales replacement handled in the United States under this listing workflow. That added service clarity gives students, professionals, and home users more confidence when choosing a laptop for long-term daily use.
- 【53.58Wh Battery and 100W PD】A 53.58Wh smart battery paired with a separate 100W PD charger gives this laptop more flexibility for campus study, coffee shop work, and moving between rooms at home. The USB-C setup also supports convenient power and display connectivity, helping reduce the hassle of slow charging and frequent outlet hunting during a busy day.
For a cloud editor, reported work loss is especially consequential: users depend on the service to keep projects and integrations available. Illusto’s closure illustrates why a lifetime deal for hosted software cannot guarantee that the vendor will operate the underlying service indefinitely. Keep original footage and exports somewhere you control, regardless of the editor you choose.
What should former Illusto customers do?
- Check for local copies first. Look in your downloads, export folders, external drives, and any cloud backups for finished videos, source footage, and graphics.
- Search your records. Keep your AppSumo order confirmation, license details, and relevant correspondence together. The published refund deadline has passed, but you can contact AppSumo with proof of purchase to ask whether any account-specific help is possible; do not assume a refund or recovery will be granted.
- Check any remaining account access cautiously. If a legacy login still works, download anything you can reach promptly. Do not rely on it for ongoing production or assume that projects can be recovered.
- Rebuild from originals if needed. If there is no usable project file or export, recreate the edit in an active tool from your source media and brand assets. The available notices do not promise project migration or recovery.

Quick Recap
How to choose a replacement safely
- Continuity: Check that the product is active, support documentation is current, and billing and cancellation terms are clear.
- Exports and backups: Confirm maximum resolution, watermark rules, export limits, and whether you can download editable projects. Check how long source media remains available after cancellation.
- Editing depth: Match the tool to your actual needs: trimming and resizing, multi-track work, keyframes, captions, audio mixing, greenscreen, color correction, or motion graphics.
- Stock-media rights: Confirm commercial, client-work, and social-publishing permissions. Check whether rights continue after cancellation and whether resale, merchandise, or redistribution is restricted.
- AI limits: Review monthly credits, rollover rules, model-specific costs, generation duration, revision limits, watermarks, and commercial rights.
- Team workflow: For shared work, check seat counts, review comments, approval tools, shared libraries, publishing integrations, and account ownership when a team member leaves.
- Total cost: Compare monthly and annual billing, per-seat charges, credits, stock add-ons, storage, export limits, and refund rules—not just the headline subscription price.
