Microsoft Edge offers Capture full page from its Screenshot tool (or Ctrl+Shift+S); Firefox offers Save full page; Chrome provides Capture a full size screenshot in DevTools; and an iPhone exposes Full Page after a Safari screenshot. These workflows capture a complete webpage, not necessarily every scrollable pane inside a desktop application.
What “entire scrolling window” means
A normal screenshot records only the current viewport. A full-page capture scrolls through a webpage and combines content that is currently off-screen into one image (or, on iPhone, a saved full-page document). It is different from recording a video of scrolling and from capturing a nested list, editor, or chat pane inside another application.
The instructions below are documented primarily for webpages. If your target is a scrollable region inside a desktop app, there is no single universal built-in method established by these browser and phone guides; a scrolling-capture utility that explicitly supports that application may be required.
Microsoft Edge: Capture full page
Edge’s Screenshot tool can capture beyond the visible area and then let you copy or save the result. Microsoft notes that availability and behavior can vary by device, market, and browser version.

- Open the webpage and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open Screenshot from the page’s right-click menu or the Edge Settings menu. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page.
- In the overlay, review the capture, then choose the control to copy or save it.
Moving pages in Edge
Edge says moving content such as GIFs and carousels remains active while the page is captured. If a moving element matters, pause it first when the site allows that, or start the capture when the desired frame is visible. Otherwise, the final image can contain a frame different from the one you expected.
Firefox: Save full page
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot interface (for example, from the page context menu).
- Select Save full page in the upper-right of the screenshot interface.
- Choose the download option to save the image, or use the copy option to place it on the clipboard.

Firefox Developer Tools alternative
For a developer-oriented workflow, enable the full-page button in Developer Tools:
- Open Developer Tools and its settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Use the new toolbar button. Firefox saves the full-page image to your Downloads folder.
Firefox also documents the Web Console helper :screenshot --fullpage. This is useful when you want a command-driven capture or need to incorporate the action into a repeatable debugging routine. Details and current interface names are in Mozilla’s Firefox Source Docs.

Chrome: Capture a full size screenshot in DevTools
Chrome’s documented native route is in DevTools Device mode. It captures the full page, including content outside the current viewport.
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Open DevTools (right-click the page and choose Inspect, or use your operating system’s DevTools shortcut).
- Turn on Device mode with the phone/tablet icon in the DevTools toolbar.
- Open the screenshot options menu in Device mode.
- Choose Capture a full size screenshot.
Chrome saves the resulting image using the browser’s normal download behavior. The exact DevTools arrangement can change between Chrome versions; the action is documented in Chrome for Developers’ Device mode guide.
Why Chrome uses Device mode
Device mode gives the capture engine a defined viewport and page dimensions. It is especially useful when you need to inspect a responsive layout at a particular width, but it adds more steps than Edge’s page menu for a one-off screenshot.
iPhone: use Full Page after a screenshot
On an iPhone, Apple’s documented full-page example is a Safari webpage. The resulting capture is intended for content longer than the screen and can be saved through the screenshot preview.

- Tap the screenshot thumbnail when it appears.
- Tap Full Page at the top of the preview.
- Review the page-length capture and use the save or share controls shown by iOS.
Apple’s current instructions are at Take a screenshot on iPhone. The Full Page option is associated with supported long documents and webpages; it is not a promise that every app’s internal scrolling panel can be captured as one image.

Choose based on the browser or device you have, whether you prefer a menu or Developer Tools, and how you need to receive the output. All four webpage methods capture beyond the viewport; none should be assumed to understand an arbitrary nested scroll area in another app.
Prepare a page for a reliable capture
- Load the page completely. Wait for navigation, fonts, images, and expandable sections that you expect to appear. A capture started too early can preserve a loading state.
- Set the intended state. Sign in when permitted, select the correct language, expand required accordions, and dismiss overlays that obscure content.
- Control motion. Pause videos, GIFs, and carousels where possible. Edge specifically reports that such moving content remains active during capture.
- Check lazy-loaded sections. Some sites request images only as they approach the viewport. If a section is blank, scroll through the page once, return to the top, and capture again.
- Keep the page open. Do not navigate, refresh, or close the tab while the browser is assembling the image.
When the result is cut off, blank, or wrong
Only the visible viewport was saved
You likely used the operating system’s ordinary screenshot shortcut or the browser’s visible-area option. Repeat the platform-specific full-page action: Edge’s Capture full page, Firefox’s Save full page, Chrome’s Capture a full size screenshot, or iPhone’s Full Page.
A page section is missing
Check whether the content is inside an embedded frame or a nested scrollable pane. Browser full-page tools are designed for the document itself and may not merge an internal pane. If it is a webpage section, let lazy-loaded resources finish and try again; if it is an app pane, use a tool that names that app as supported.

Dismiss the dialog and close or pause nonessential moving elements before capturing. A browser’s native feature does not automatically clean a page’s overlays.
Chrome’s screenshot control is hard to find
Confirm that DevTools Device mode is enabled, then open its screenshot options. Chrome’s documented full-size command is in Device mode rather than the ordinary page context menu.
Firefox has no full-page toolbar button
Enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Developer Tools → Settings → Available Toolbox Buttons, or use the screenshot interface’s Save full page action.
The image is extremely tall or difficult to share
Save the original first. Then resize or convert a copy for email or documentation. Avoid repeatedly recompressing the only copy, especially when small text must remain readable.

- Very long pages: full-page images can be far taller and larger than viewport screenshots. Use a PDF or an element capture when a single image is impractical.
- Dynamic layouts: fixed headers, sticky controls, and animations can appear repeatedly or at different positions. Stabilize the page before capture and verify the output visually.
