You cannot embed a continuously updating Facebook Group feed in WordPress through currently documented, supported routes. WordPress says its Facebook Embed block cannot embed Groups, and Meta’s removal of the Groups API means plugins can no longer keep Group feeds updated. You can still embed an individual public Facebook post or Reel, or use a Facebook Page feed as the ongoing-feed alternative.
Why a Facebook Group feed cannot be embedded
WordPress’s Facebook Embed documentation states that Facebook pages, events, and groups cannot be embedded with its block. Separately, Smash Balloon says Meta removed the Facebook Groups API on 23 April 2024, so its plugin can no longer update Group feeds. The limitation is on Meta’s platform side, not a missing WordPress setting.

For that reason, do not expect a shortcode, plugin setting, or alternative embed block to restore a live Group timeline. A plugin may still display selected content or support other Facebook content types, but that is different from synchronizing a Group feed.
Embed an individual public Group post or Reel
If you want to feature one announcement or other selected item, Meta’s Meta Embeds for WordPress plugin documents support for Facebook post URLs and Reel URLs. Its README lists WordPress 5.9 or later and PHP 7.4 or later as requirements, and says those documented embeds need no access token or configuration. It does not document a Group-feed URL format.

- In WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New and install Meta Embeds for WordPress.
- Copy the URL for the public Facebook post or Reel you want to show.
- In the block editor, paste the URL on its own line, or insert the plugin’s dedicated Facebook block and provide the URL.
- Preview the page and confirm the content remains public and displays for visitors.
This embeds the selected post or Reel; it does not create a timeline that updates whenever the Group publishes something new. Private or member-only Group posts are not a public embed solution.
Use a Facebook Page for a continuously updating feed
If visitors need to see recurring announcements in a feed, a public Facebook Page is the practical alternative. Page-feed tools are distinct from Group-feed tools: Easy Social Feed documents Facebook Page feed features and a Page Plugin shortcode, Smash Balloon documents Page feeds while noting that Group feeds ended, and Jetpack explains using the Facebook Page Plugin for a full Page feed.

Compare Page-feed options based on the details that affect your site:
- Content scope: whether you need a Page timeline or only selected posts and Reels.
- Visibility and permissions: whether the content is public and what account or Page access the tool requires.
- Layout: whether the feed offers the post types, layout controls, and responsive display you need.
- Privacy and loading: how the embed loads third-party content and what visitors encounter before it appears.
- Maintenance: how the plugin handles Meta platform changes and how regularly its documentation and support are maintained.
Examples to evaluate include Easy Social Feed and Smash Balloon Custom Facebook Feed. Check each plugin’s current documentation and feature availability before choosing; a Page-feed feature does not imply Group-feed support.
