Short answer: use Amazon’s current Creators API for permitted catalog data, offers, images, variations and browse nodes. It can filter search results by a product’s review rating, but the documented API does not provide general access to full customer-review bodies or a complete review archive. If you need review text, first confirm that your data source, account, marketplace and use are allowed; do not assume that “reviews API” means downloadable review content.

What Amazon’s official API provides

Amazon describes Creators API as a REST API for programmatic access to product-catalog data. Its documented operations are SearchItems, GetItems, GetVariations and GetBrowseNodes. The reference describes item information, images, offer listings and variation-related resources; field availability depends on the marketplace (locale) and product category.

• Catalog retrieval: obtain item attributes, images, offers, identifiers and variations through documented resources.
• Review discovery: use a rating filter to narrow products, where available, but do not represent that result as review text or a review archive.

Amazon Business documents customerReviewsSummary as a privileged field in its separate Product Search API. Amazon says eligibility for requested privileged fields is reviewed; the cited documentation does not establish general access to full review text. The Amazon Ads API is for advertising campaign management and reporting, not review extraction.

Start with a schema that distinguishes unavailable values from empty values. A practical record can include ASIN, marketplace, title, brand, description, features, classifications, external identifiers, image URLs, offer data, variation relationships and the observed rating filter result. Store the request date and marketplace because catalog values and availability change.

2. Request only documented resources

Request the ItemInfo, Images and OffersV2 resources when your use case needs them, and add variation or refinement resources only where the operation supports them. Do not hard-code the assumption that a resource exists for every item. Read the operation and resource tables in Amazon’s API reference for the marketplace you target.

3. Use a configuration-driven request

Amazon’s documentation supplies the operation-specific authentication and endpoint details. Keep those values in environment variables so you can follow the current signing and regional instructions rather than copying stale examples into source control. 4. Filter by rating without collecting review bodies

When supported by your operation and marketplace, add the documented minReviewsRating filter to a SearchItems request. Treat the result as “items meeting a rating threshold,” not “reviews returned.” Keep the threshold and marketplace in your database so later users can understand how a product entered the result set.

5. Paginate and cache deliberately

SearchItems returns up to ten items per request according to its reference. Follow the operation’s documented pagination token rather than assuming page numbers. Cache only for a period permitted by the terms and your data use; refresh prices, availability and ratings according to your application’s needs. Never expose credentials in browser JavaScript or commit them to a repository.

Associates policy limits on review and automated extraction

Amazon’s Associates operating policy says the license does not include data mining, robots or similar data-gathering and extraction tools. It also restricts displaying or otherwise using customer reviews or star ratings, in whole or part, unless a link to that review or rating was obtained through Creators API or PA API and the associated requirements are followed.

Resource or field is missing

Availability varies by locale, category and ASIN. Remove the unsupported resource, test another item in the same marketplace and handle absent JSON properties. Do not substitute a guessed field name.

Fewer than ten results

Ten is an upper limit for a SearchItems request, not a guarantee. A narrow keyword, category, marketplace or filter can legitimately return fewer items. Broaden the documented search fields or issue another request using the returned pagination token.

You expected review text

Recheck the operation you called. A rating threshold does not return review bodies. If review content is essential, stop and evaluate an explicitly authorized source and your permitted use rather than attempting to bypass the API.

Prices or availability look stale

Catalog and offer data change. Record retrieval timestamps, use an appropriate refresh schedule and show users when values were observed. Do not imply that a cached offer is a live checkout price.
